SHAMROCK HEADS TO GOWRAN PARK FOR THE LISTED RACE: The Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Hurry Harriet Stakes (Listed) looks incredibly competitive – as it should do.
How refreshing to see a competitive Pattern race tonight.
One of the negative sides to the sport is seeing big races (in terms of prize money and prestige) being uncompetitive. In most sports the more prize money you make available the more interest and competitive the sport is but sadly racing often suffers from small fields and uncompetitive betting heats in Group and Listed races.
Not so tonight for the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Hurry Harriet Stakes (Listed) – the 6.55 at Gowran Park.
Aidan O’Brien saddles three of the 11 runners including the current BETDAQ favourite Say. I say there are grounds for taking her on. Her only career win in seven starts came on soft ground at Cork where she was the 1/6 favourite, although in fairness she proved she could handle the quicker ground with a good effort in a Group 2 at the Curragh last time out when second to the Sir Michael Stoute trained Dank. She should again hold Aloof (4th) and Mizzava (5th) on that run.
However, I’m so nervous about the three-year-old form in general this season that I am going to play on Along Came Casey who bolted home when winning a Leopardstown Listed race in June and has since put up two good performances at Group 3 level.
