THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Friday’s IPL clash between Lucknow Super Giants v Sunrisers Hyderabad with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
The IPL moves on at pace with games coming thick and fast on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! Friday sees Lucknow Super Giants take on Sunrisers Hyderabad. It’s still exceptionally early days in the IPL – Lucknow Super Giants have only played twice and Sunrisers Hyderabad once – but you’d have to be a little worried about the first performance from Sunrisers Hyderabad. They lost by a margin of 72 runs which is absolutely massive considering how competitive the IPL is these days.
When I look at their squad I worry for them though. They had all that drama with the owners and David Warner – to be honest they haven’t been a great side for a while now, but their squad looks paper thin by IPL standards. They would be my favourites for the wooden spoon this season. The batting looks exceptionally light, and lacks a star. They have Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the lead bowler, but he has the captaincy too – probably because he is the biggest star knowing how IPL openers think but the reality is there wasn’t an obvious choice from the rest.
We’ll get another view at how they perform here, but I’m not confident in them. Lucknow lost their second game after making a winning start to the tournament but they still batted very well. Their bowling didn’t do so well however, conceding 217 runs against CSK. It was their bowling that fired last season, and they can improve here against a weak Hyderabad batting line-up.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We went into the first game at Lucknow blind because we basically had no ground history here. The first game saw Lucknow win batting first by posting 193/6 and beating Delhi Capitals by 50 runs. Although that gives us a little more knowledge here, Delhi were without their key South African bowlers and I have stressed not to fully judge them until they arrive. I would go into this game with an open mind, but obviously high scores are achievable so I wouldn’t expect low scoring conditions.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I really don’t like the look of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad, and their first performance was woeful too. Lucknow are a solid side with good batting and good bowling. They are just a side who do everything well, and although I feel they won’t top the group or indeed win the tournament they are probably looking at a playoff place again. I feel this will be one way traffic here, and I’m very happy to be against Sunrisers Hyderabad until I see a decent performance. The 1.8 on Lucknow is worth a Max Bet in my opinion.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
As I am so confident on a Lucknow win here, I won’t be trading too much in this game. I wouldn’t want to be on Sunrisers while batting or bowling looking at their first performance. Plus add that to the fact that this ground is new to the IPL, we don’t have much data. The best in-running trade might be supporting the Lucknow batting – they went really well twice and that seems to be their strong point against an average looking Hyderabad attack.
