Mumbai Indians v Sunrisers Hyderabad

MATCH OVERVIEW:

A new week begins at the IPL on Betdaq Betting Exchange as Mumbai Indians host Sunrisers Hyderabad. We only have two weeks left of the group stage now, and the pressure is really heating up in the race for the playoffs. Unfortunately for Mumbai Indians, they aren’t one of the sides in the mix for a place in the playoffs but Sunrisers Hyderabad are in a pretty good position. They will be cheering for Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday afternoon to beat Lucknow Super Giants – that will give the Sunrisers a chance to jump over Lucknow and into third, but either way the Sunrisers have things in their own hands at the moment.

This is the start of a massive week for the Sunrisers who actually meet Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday – that will be a huge game! We have landed some nice five star NAP bets taking on Mumbai last week. Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders all won starting the game trading odds against. We have a similar situation here with Sunrisers Hyderabad coming into the game as the outsiders with Mumbai the odds on favourites. I know Mumbai are one of the most popular IPL franchises and they will always be supported in the markets, but at what point do we just say that they are playing poor cricket this season.

After the weekend, Mumbai sit bottom of the table with just three wins from their eleven games. Gujarat have dropped down the table, but they still have two more points than Mumbai. I know the Sunrisers have their flaws – every IPL side has some weakness this season – but I strongly feel we have the wrong favourites here again.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

This IPL has been exceptionally high scoring, however as I noted in my preview on Sunday, last week was the first time we have started to see scores come down. We’re nearing the end of the tournament now, and perhaps we’re starting to see the wickets slow down a little. I would go into the next few days with an open mind; Overs backers were having it right off until last week! The first inning scores at the Wankhede have been; 125/9 (chased), 234/5 (won), 196/8 (chased), 206/4 (won) and 169 all out (won). Mumbai were bowled out for 145 trying to chase that 169 on Friday – I probably wouldn’t be expecting a massive score here but we are in a tricky phase to read conditions to be honest.

RECOMMENDED BET:

I touched on this above, but I really don’t understand the odds here. I just cannot have Mumbai Indians as the favourites based on what we have watched this season. They have really struggled with their bowling, and while their batters haven’t failed often they have just been put under so much pressure it’s been hard to cope. We landed some very nice bets against Mumbai over the past two weeks – indeed I spotted their poor bowling quite early and it’s been very profitable going against them this tournament. I’m happy to have another five star NAP against them, I’d have the Sunrisers as the odds on favourites.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

We have an interesting situation here because you would say that bowling is the weak point for both sides and that you’d expect the batters to be on top. However, we did see a reasonably low scoring game here last week and it might not be a run-fest as expected. How the game has changed by the way that we’re calling 169 a low score! We used to have an average T20 score under that, but we have had some crazy scores this season! Despite the fact that batting might be a little bit more tricky, I’d still be keen to take on the Mumbai bowling in either innings – I feel that’s where we will see most market movement.
