Sunrisers Hyderabad v Gujarat Titans

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have a huge game in the race for the playoffs at the IPL on Thursday afternoon as Sunrisers Hyderabad host Gujarat Titans on Betdaq Betting Exchange. With Delhi Capitals beating Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday afternoon, Sunrisers Hyderabad are in a very good place. Delhi Capitals have played all their games now and have a worse net run rate, RCB and Lucknow Super Giants are two points behind with only one game left, if I was Sunrisers Hyderabad I’d be thinking of going for the top two finish rather than just the top four! They will have to win their final two games, but if that happens they will likely end up with a better net run rate than Rajasthan who have to play table toppers Kolkata Knight Riders in their final game the weekend.

This is the start of a massive few days for Hyderabad as they play again quickly on Friday afternoon against Punjab Kings. You have to say that they have a very easy run-in on paper; they meet two of the bottom three sides in this IPL. Gujarat Titans have majorly dropped their level this season – I suppose the fairy tale start to their franchise journey had to stop somewhere. They reached two Finals in their opening two seasons, winning one – but the success stops this season. They have been hit by injuries, players leaving and they’ve also really struggled with their team selection. As I said earlier in the week in their rained off game against KKR, I really feel they still don’t know their best XI and this is their final game!

Sunrisers Hyderabad have been pretty solid – the reality is if they managed to sneak into that second spot depending on other results you would have to say that they probably aren’t in the best two sides this IPL, but they have done everything to a very high standard. Nothing too blockbuster, just good solid cricket. Gujarat Titans have been the opposite really, and it would be a surprise if we didn’t see a Hyderabad win.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Hyderabad has been very high scoring this season, in keeping with this IPL to be honest. We’ve really had scores taken to the next level – that probably all started here too when we saw 277/3 in the opening game here! The first inning scores have been 277/3 (won), 165/5 (chased), 206/7 (won), 201/3 (won), 165/4 (chased). That 165 was chased down inside ten overs in the last game here, incredible batting by Sunrisers Hyderabad saw a huge boost to their net run rate. You’d have to expect another high scoring game – I would bat first and the target has to be 200+.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Sunrisers Hyderabad are the hot favourites at 1.67. That’s one of the shortest prices we have had in this IPL, but they have been in top notch form lately and Gujarat Titans have been poor. As I said above, I strongly feel that Gujarat still don’t know their best XI and this is their final game. They brought in Josh Little who was very successful last season for them, he took four wickets and then got dropped the next game. Decisions like that are strange, but it reflects the lack of balance in their side with the overseas players – they are finding it hard to find the right combo. I’m going to keep stakes small here because Sunrisers Hyderabad are only offering small value at 1.67 but they should get the job done.

The Edge Says:
One point win Sunrisers Hyderabad to beat Gujarat Titans at 1.67 on Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Batting conditions have been fantastic here, and you’d have to expect another high scoring game here. I would be confident on supporting Sunrisers Hyderabad if they batted first, and less so if Gujarat Titans bat first – I’d just reduce stakes. I feel the bat will dominate the ball here, so I’m mainly going to focus on looking for trades on either batting side. We haven’t had a big chase here but we have been pretty close – I would say that batting first is a massive edge, but we should see market movement because we’re going to see a big score in my opinion.
