Punjab Kings v Delhi Capitals
The IPL continues on Wednesday afternoon on BETDAQ Betting Exchange with a must win game for Punjab Kings against Delhi Capitals. The Delhi Capitals have been sitting towards the bottom of the IPL table for the whole tournament, and they have nothing left to play for only pride heading into the latter stages. It’s a different story for Punjab Kings however; they are joined by a number of sides on 12 points and they are all aiming for that fourth and final playoff place. We’re going to have plenty of important games coming up this week!
Although Delhi Capitals have looked good when they’ve put it all together, especially their middle order, they just haven’t been up to the standard this season. They started the tournament on the backfoot when South Africa didn’t release their players because they had an important ODI series against the Netherlands. South Africa got their place in the ODI World Cup, but Delhi Capitals were missing bowlers and started the tournament on the backfoot. They just haven’t recovered really, they never got going.
Punjab Kings have been inconsistent right throughout the tournament. Six wins and six losses perfectly sums them up really! They suffered losses against KKR and Mumbai Indians, but they bounced back with a good win over Delhi Capitals at the weekend. It’s rare to find the sides clashing again so quickly in the IPL, but here we are!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
This is the 64th IPL match this season, and it’s the first game at Dharamsala! Punjab have played their home games at Mohail up to this point, but they play here twice before the group stage finishes. This is known as being one of the most picturesque grounds in the cricketing world, but there was drama here this year. The BCCI had to move the 3rd Test between India and Australia from here because the ground wasn’t ready. They are up in the mountains here, and because of a “harsh winter” the ground lacked enough grass for cricket. I have to say I’m going into this game with a very open mind scoring wise!
RECOMMENDED BET:
Punjab looked the much better side when the sides met at the weekend – thanks mainly to a brilliant century at the top of the order from Prabhsimran Singh. It’s not often Punjab win by over 30 runs when Shikhar Dhawan fails! The middle order from Delhi completely collapsed after a good start, and they can do better. It’s easy to point the finger at the Delhi middle order – the Punjab middle order didn’t do much either to be honest. I feel this game will be closer than the odds suggest, and a small bet on Delhi at 2.2 is recommended from a value point of view.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
I backed Delhi above from a value point of view because I feel this will be a very close game. Both sides have their flaws, and with conditions unknown it’s hard to be confident on Punjab Kings here in my opinion. They definitely have a hit-or-miss middle order, and I know Delhi Capitals are in the same position but on paper I like the Delhi middle order more. Perhaps that is foolish, given they sit bottom of the table! The reality here is however with conditions unknown, it will pay to sit back and fully get an understanding of conditions before forming an in-running strategy. The outfield must have been in a terrible state to lose an India v Australia Test match!
