CARIBBEAN PREMIER LEAGUE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews the Caribbean Premier League match on Saturday between Guyana Amazon Warriors v Jamaica Tallawahs with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

The Edge has been a professional cricket trader for over 12 years, and we are delighted to have his columns on BETDAQ Tips. He provides his best bets on a points scale between 1 and 5, with 5 being a rare max bet.

Because we see so much action in-running on cricket, he will also provide some in-running strategies that could develop in-play and lead to some excellent value bets. The Edge covers all forms of cricket: Test Matches, ODI’s and T20’s but his favourite competition is the Indian Premier League each season.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

This is a very interest game, and it should be very close too. The Jamaica Tallawahs have a lot of power in their line-up but the conditions haven’t been good for batting thus far and that has been a big problem for their six hitters. Russell hasn’t hit form yet, and no doubt he will at some stage, but on a spinning wicket he will have issues with the way he plays. If you took Russell out of the Jamaica squad, their batting would look pretty light.

Guyana got off the mark in their last game against St Kitts but it looks like St Kitts could be the worst team in the CPL this year at the moment. Although granted it’s early days to be saying something like that – plenty of teams start slow and finish strongly. Nevertheless, Guyana kept St Kitts to 127/8 in their last game and with a wicket that’s tough for batting their bowling will be on top here again. Jamaica fired against the Zouks, but miss-fired against Trinbago and with Guyana’s bowling options; they can easily collapse again here.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

As it’s the weekend, this game is being played at a little earlier time. We have a start time of 7-15pm in the UK instead of the 10-30pm midweek. What we have seen so far from the later games is that batting is really tough, however with the day break on Friday and a little earlier start time, conditions change slightly for this one. I recommended watching the first three overs to get a feel for conditions before getting involved. You also have the benefit of seeing the scores from the first game this afternoon.

RECOMMENDED BET:

I took a chance going against Guyana in their last fixture and was proven wrong but it was only a one point bet at good value odds. I like them to win here. In my view, the Jamaica side won’t be able to handle the Guyana bowling on a tough wicket and at around 1.72 they are very much worth backing. The top order from Jamaica have yet to fire, and the Guyana spinners can tie the middle and lower order power hitters in knots here.

The Edge Says:
Two points win Guyana Amazon Warriors to beat Jamaica Tallawahs at 1.72 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

This game is starting a little earlier than midweek, so perhaps batting conditions might not be as difficult. Don’t go into the game expecting scores of around 130 like we have seen until you see what the conditions are like in the opening overs. If we have very similar conditions, then it makes sense to target your trades on the bowling side and the game should favour the side batting first – unless they aim too high and fall short.

Chasing around 130 has proven tricky, but they’ve always had the game in control to some degree. It would be very interesting to see a night chase of around 145. In these batting conditions that would make for an excellent game – I would favour the bowling side to defend it.

The Jamaica top order have yet to get a big score, and we can probably expect early wickets again. Tahir has been taking wickets, but he has given away a few runs too – however he should be suited to this Jamaica lower order and I fancy him to have a very good game today.
