MATCH OVERVIEW:

The weekend kicks off at the CPL 2020 with St Kitts & Nevis Patriots against the St Lucia Zouks. We have seen some weather worries in the early games thus far with the first day down to 17 overs, the second day ok but still a worry and we lost a lot of the early game on day 3. Fingers crossed for a full game here.

The Zouks were involved in that game on day 3, with them conceding a score of 131/7 off 18.1 overs before the rain. They had a five over chase afterwards and it’s really difficult to know whether that was a good bowling performance or not, a five over chase will always favour the batting team and they won the game. If the score had got up to 150 in the last two overs, you’d have to say that based off the games we’ve seen and the batting conditions getting tougher then they probably wouldn’t have been able to chase that (over 20 overs).

St Kitts need a win here after losing their opening two games against Barbados and Guyana. They were unable to chase 153 on the first day and then could only manage 127/8 in their second game. Their batting needs to improve. At the moment, it looks like if Lynn and Taylor fail then they won’t get many runs. Zouks are a poor side, but they’ve shown enough to be very competitive against this limited St Kitts side.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

As I said above, we have had major weather issues in the early games and you would assume that will be a worry again. It’s just that type of weather in the West Indies at the moment, but fingers crossed we get a game.

We’ve had a break with no cricket on Friday so perhaps we will get slightly improved batting conditions compared to the previous games. As we have seen, the pitch is very tricky for batting and the bowlers have been on top. Because of the day break, I would get a feel for conditions in the opening three overs and see how the pitch is playing before doing anything.

RECOMMENDED BET:

This is a game between two poor sides. I’m not a major fan of the Zouks, but they have shown enough to beat this St Kitts side and for me they should be the favourites. For me they are definitely worth backing at 2.1 or bigger. They did get the luck with the weather conditions in their last game but we have yet to see a decent batting performance from St Kitts. The Zouks bowling is questionable, but at least they have been scoring runs and with tough batting conditions, they can get the win here.

The Edge Says:
Two points win St Lucia Zouks to beat St Kitts & Nevis Patriots at 2.1 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Neither side have shown signs that they should be majorly supported when batting. However, the Zouks have started off their innings well and fell away – I would personally look to be against the Zouks tail while batting. If conditions are tough for batting, it makes sense to be on the bowling team anyway.

St Kitts have been reasonable poor when batting, and I would be very careful looking for trades on them while they are batting. They were in the game against Barbados but Rashid Khan was brilliant in fairness but they were poor against Guyana. A lot depends on how Lynn plays with them, and he’s not at his best when there’s very little pace in the wicket as we have seen.
