CARIBBEAN PREMIER LEAGUE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews the Caribbean Premier League match on Saturday between Jamaica Tallawahs v Barbados Tridents with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

The Edge has been a professional cricket trader for over 12 years, and we are delighted to have his columns on BETDAQ Tips. He provides his best bets on a points scale between 1 and 5, with 5 being a rare max bet.

Because we see so much action in-running on cricket, he will also provide some in-running strategies that could develop in-play and lead to some excellent value bets. The Edge covers all forms of cricket: Test Matches, ODI’s and T20’s but his favourite competition is the Indian Premier League each season.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

Jamaica will have one eye on the Trinbago Knight Riders v St Lucia Zouks game earlier in the day to see if there’s a chance that they can move into third or stay fourth. It could make a massive difference, as you would assume nobody wants to play Trinbago after the excellent tournament they have had. Jamaica and The Zouks meet on the final day tomorrow before the Playoffs, so hopefully there is a lot to play for!

On the other hand, Barbados have nothing to play for here and to be honest it looks like they have checked out. They have had to play the night game twice this week and we all know how tough batting is, however they have been bowled out for 92 and kept down to 89/9 from their 20 overs on Thursday night. Both times they had to play Guyana who do have a good bowling line-up, but there’s no excuse to only score that many runs. It looked like they didn’t want to be there, and they could get rolled over again tonight.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

The ground took a huge amount of rain on Thursday as we lost the early game, however we once again had no issues with the late game. We start a couple of hours earlier today because it’s the weekend, but tough wood we haven’t had any weather issues in the late games.

Batting has been extremely tough. I’ve already mentioned the two Barbados scores when batting first in the night game above, but The Zouks could only managed 109/7 in between those games too. I would suggest 130+ would be tough to chase, but it’s been a while since we saw that target set!

RECOMMENDED BET:

Jamaica aren’t the most reliable side in the tournament and we have made money betting against them at times. However, I can’t see past them today. Barbados have been terrible lately and with nothing to play for it’s hard to see that they will start focusing when batting now. The wicket is so tough to bat on, if your mind isn’t fully focused you won’t last long. It’s just too tough. Jamaica look excellent value at 1.7. Their bowling can improve but they do have a stronger batting line-up than Barbados and also with Barbados, if you see off Rashid Khan you know you’re going to get four to eight easy overs. The likes of Russell can go well against those bowlers.

The Edge Says:
Four points win Jamaica Tallawahs to beat Barbados Tridents at 1.7 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

I think we’ve saw enough cricket in the late games to know by now that you want to be on the team bowling first on these wickets. It’s a lot easier said than done to “just bat the overs” on these wickets. Batting has been very tough. As you would imagine it’s better to trade the bowling side as a wicket is never far away.

That being said, Barbados do have some very weak bowlers in their line-up and they can be targeted again here. Rashid Khan has had no support, but I feel like if Barbados bat first again tonight they will probably be all out for a very low score again. It’s Jamaica all the way for me.
