CARIBBEAN PREMIER LEAGUE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews the Caribbean Premier League match on Saturday between Trinbago Knight Riders v St Lucia Zouks with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

It’s the final weekend of the Caribbean Premier League! We start Saturday with Trinbago Knight Riders against St Lucia Zouks hoping to keep their unbeaten run going! The Zouks look certain of a Playoff finish too but they are only three points ahead of Jamaica so they could still finish fourth. Third would be better for The Zouks as you’d assume they’d want to avoid Trinbago. That being said, Guyana seem to be peaking at the right time however they have a big gap before the Playoffs now that they’ve played all their games already.

The Zouks need to bounce back from a heavy defeat to Guyana when they were kept down to 109/7 off their 20 overs. They probably face a better bowling line-up here, although Guyana’s is pretty solid. As it’s the early game batting conditions should be pretty good – better than the night games anyway that have been a disaster for batting! On paper, Trinbgao should outclass this Zouks side.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We’ve had consistent weather worries with the early game in this tournament and unfortunately we lost the first game on Thursday. In fairness given it’s rainy season in the West Indies to only lose one game is pretty good. You probably would have taken that at the start of the tournament – hopefully that doesn’t jinx the final weekend and the Playoffs!

Rain interrupted these two sides when they played in an early game at Queen’s Park Oval with Trinbago easily chasing down The Zouks score. Trinbago have set two pretty big scores when batting first in the early game, while we didn’t get to see the other innings on Thursday although we had a good start. I would say the team batting first should be aiming for 170.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Trinbago had The Zouks 111/6 after 17.1 overs when the sides met earlier in the tournament and I’m surprise to see Trinbago as big as 1.64 here. The Zouks have impressed me as I gave very little chance at the start of the competition. Their bowling is still below average but their batting has gone really well. They seem to have gelled as a squad too and deserve to make the Playoffs. Even allowing for that though I feel Trinbago are too big at 1.64. They have been immense in the tournament to date and easily outclassed The Zouks when the sides met earlier. They have won from bad positions and rolled over teams easily – they have the winning touch and can continue.

The Edge Says:
Three points win Trinbago Knight Riders to beat the St Lucia Zouks at 1.64 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

It has been very noticeable that sides have batted well first in the early game since returning to the Brian Lara Stadium. Trinbago put up two big scores, but even St Kitts were 46/0 after 5.4 overs before the rain came on Thursday. I’d expect a pretty good score again here and it might pay to start a trade on the team batting first.

Trinbago have much better bowling options compared to The Zouks so I would be happier to be on the Trinbago batting rather than The Zouks batting. Simmons looks is excellent form for Trinbago and he can continue his good run.
