THE EDGE: The Edge previews the IPL clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru v Delhi Capitals with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru v Delhi Capitals
MATCH OVERVIEW:
We have a cracker from the IPL on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as Royal Challengers Bengaluru host Delhi Capitals on Thursday! We have had some thrilling games already this week; headlined by the two high scoring games on Tuesday and we also landed a Five Star NAP as RCB beat Mumbai Indians to start the week! Now we have a massive clash between two sides who have started really well; it feels like this is a big game in the race for the playoffs, even at this early stage of the tournament. Delhi Capitals have had a 100% record thus far with three wins from three games.
As I’ve mentioned already in this tournament, RCB have changed their tactics with recruitment and that has seemingly worked. They always focused on big named stars with the bat and had little budget for the rest of the side – that has brought about their terrible home record. Over the past two years, they have focused on improving the bowling and that has the side moving in the right direction. Three wins from four games is a very nice start, and their loss came against Gujarat Titans too who have also started strongly. Maybe this is finally the year RCB break their IPL curse, but there’s a long way to go yet!
This should be a very interesting game; obviously the RCB home record is a massive worry. While Delhi have a 100% record, two of their wins have come against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings who are the bottom two sides in the tournament at the moment. A fascinating game awaits, and we should know a lot more where both sides stand after this one.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
The Chinnaswamy is known for being exceptionally high scoring. We’re above sea level so the ball flies, the boundaries are small and we usually get dew. Add all that together and this has been one of the highest scoring IPL games. However, they did work on the drainage over the last few years and that has dried out the wicket a little which means more spin. Scores have reduced and it’s no longer a case of just blindly expect 200+ runs scored. RCB only managed 169/8 in the first game here, but that was chased down very easily by Gujarat Titans – they won with 13 balls to spare with eight wickets in hand.
RECOMMENDED BET:
We have two impressive sides here, and I while I had a very strong opinion on RCB’s last game, I don’t have a very strong opinion here. I feel this is a game for small stakes with both sides going well so far. I see it being a 50/50 game, and I do feel Delhi are worth backing at 2.16. They haven’t put a foot wrong yet, and obviously RCB have a poor home record. Generally having such a high scoring venue it brings the sides closer together, and that has been the problem for RCB with their stars. Happy to back Delhi for a small investment here.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Generally at this ground, you want to support the batting side. RCB started with a low score here in the opening game though, so you would have got burned with that strategy. One game doesn’t change much though, and in general this ground has been one for the batters. I would really watch for dew like a hawk – once you see the players trying to keep the ball dry then you know it’s going to get exceptionally difficult to bat. I do feel it will be a little edge to chase here, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see 200+ chased down.
