INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Thursday’s Rajasthan Royals v Sunrisers Hyderabad match in the IPL with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:
It’s game 40 at the Indian Premier League on Thursday and time is running out for both these sides! It looks like the top three have moved away from these two, and now they must battle for the final Playoff spot. The problem is KKR are two points ahead of Rajasthan and four points ahead of Hyderabad. Punjab have also turned their fortunes around since Chris Gayle came into the squad, and while Hyderabad have a game in hand over Punjab and Rajasthan, a loss here would more than likely end their season.
Both sides have clearly had their issues. Hyderabad have had injures, which have really set them back. They’ve lost their best bowler, and that’s been a huge issue. Rajasthan have had their up’s and down’s as you would imagine given their place in the table. Stokes will certainly improve them, and they did a number on CSK on Monday – restricting them to only 125/5. They could easily do similar to this Hyderabad side given they have batted reasonably slowly in the tournament. However, Rajasthan have been poor with the bat themselves and we could have a low scoring affair today.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
The wickets are slowing down in general now as we move to the latter stages of the tournament. In the last two games here, we have had 176/6 tied and 164/5 chased down in 19 overs. With Sharjah slowing down, Dubai is probably the best track for batting and I would suggest 175 is par and a pretty good target for the team batting first. Punjab chased down the 164/5 from Delhi too easily on Tuesday so suggest 165 is a good score. We have had dew here, but I’d still bat first and set 175+ (if I could!) Once again, the weather is set fair.
RECOMMENDED BET:
It comes as no surprise to see both sides more or less 2.0 on BETDAQ betting exchange. I expect a very even game here. We’re bound to have a lot of flip flops in-running. Before the start, I’m happy to select the Sunrisers over Rajasthan, and will have a small bet on them at 1.97. Rajasthan were impressive against CSK this week, but let’s not forget CSK sit bottom of the table and haven’t been good this season. Rajasthan have made too many errors throughout the tournament and while Hyderabad aren’t rock solid, they are more solid than Rajasthan. They just need to up their batting strike rate, perhaps the change in batting order will help – with Warner finishing not out in their tied game recently.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
As I said above, I expect a lot of flip flops in-running. We could easily see 1.3 bounce to 2.0, to 1.3 the other side in a game like this. Neither side have rock solid bowling, and to be fair neither side have rock solid batting either! Dubai has shown a slight advantage when batting first, so the toss could be a big factor here. I would look for trades on the side batting first – especially if they can keep wickets in hand heading into the final five overs.
I wouldn’t be overly keen to stay on the batting side for long however, with no both having their flaws and seeing too many wickets lost. I would be against both lower orders, and I wouldn’t place too much trust in either sides bowling too. This is a real game for momentum trading, with no standout plan before the off jumping off the page like some other games.
