Canada v Pakistan

MATCH OVERVIEW:

Pakistan are back in action at the T20 World Cup on Tuesday as they clash with Canada on Betdaq Betting Exchange. We saw the huge clash in New York between India and Pakistan on Sunday, and Pakistan must be still kicking themselves. It was a very swingy game with India and Pakistan both trading in the 1.1’s at one point – first it was India, then Pakistan and then India finally took over to win the game. Pakistan were in the box seat having restricted India to just 119 but on a very difficult wicket in New York they couldn’t chase. That leaves them still in a position of relying on other results to get into the Super 8s.

It goes without saying that Pakistan must beat Canada and Ireland in their final two games, and then hope the other results go their way – mainly Ireland and India beating USA. Ireland will go into that game against the USA as the favourites, but they have already been beaten by Canada and given all the Ex-Internationals on the USA side it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them actually beat Ireland and thus send Pakistan home. At the same time, if Pakistan did get into the Super 8s you wouldn’t rule them out of going deep into the tournament. They are just that kind of team; you never really know what’s coming!

I have to say though, this Pakistan squad lacks the quality of previous Pakistan sides at major tournaments. Their batting has always let them down, and it really hurt them against India after some excellent bowling. Canada will be full of confidence after beating Ireland, and they will fancy another shock here!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

The wicket in New York has really let the ICC down. India v Pakistan brought all the drama, but you’d still have to say the conditions are less than ideal. Canada will be delighted to be playing this game at New York though; it was the scene of their win against Ireland and the wicket will bring the sides closer together. Canada actually managed the highest score here at 137/7 – perhaps that was mainly due to some average Irish bowling but nevertheless they still did very well. You just know this isn’t going to be a high scoring game, and you don’t want to be on either batting side.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Pakistan are the red-hot favourites at 1.13 – that’s not a surprise but I do feel it’s too short. I expect a closer game than those odds suggest. I know there’s a huge gulf in class between the sides but conditions in New York are very difficult for batting and if Pakistan bat first then I wouldn’t expect a high score. Obviously Canada will find chasing difficult too; but I still expect Canada to have a better chance of winning than odds of 8.4 suggest. We came so close to landing our bet on USA to beat Pakistan – they did it in the Super Over but by then the match odds market was void with a tie. I fell the value bet is a small bet on Canada at nice odds.

The Edge Says:
One point win Canada to beat Pakistan at 8.4 on Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

The in-running strategy has been pretty straightforward at New York. You basically don’t want to be on either batting side – you really want to focus on trades on either bowling side. For the opening two games here, it paid to support the side who bowled first and stick with it. Now, it looks tricky to even chase 120 as we saw at the weekend. I would back the side who bowls first with a view to making a decision at the innings break whether to stick or trade based on the score and current conditions. You just know it’s going to be difficult to bat again.
