Australia v South Africa

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have another huge fixture at the Champions Trophy on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as Australia clash with South Africa on Tuesday. Both sides got their tournament off to the perfect start last week, but that doesn’t mean they are certain of a place in the Semi-Finals. Obviously Australia are in a better position having beaten England – South Africa would have been fully expected to beat Afghanistan, and now they have their two more difficult fixtures. Obviously England are massively on the backfoot given the cut-throat nature of the Champions Trophy, but there’s still plenty left to play for.

While we can’t be getting ahead of ourselves; another big thing from this group will be trying to avoid India in the Semi-Finals given they are tournament favourites. That being said, Australia did beat them in the ODI World Cup Final! Australia were in a very tough spot as they conceded 351/8 – a sign of how their bowling attack has been hammered by injuries. Their batters got them out of the hole though, chasing the massive score in style and one wonders against a pretty solid South African batting line-up how the Aussie bowlers can go here? That might go a long way to deciding the game.

This is a pretty new-look South African side. David Miller is probably the biggest name now for casual cricket viewers or indeed most IPL fans. Ryan Rickelton lead the way with a brilliant century at the top of the order against Afghanistan, but as we know it’ll be a different story facing the World Champions. A fascinating, high-stakes, game ahead!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Batting conditions have been very good in Pakistan so far this tournament – it’s actually been tougher to bat in Dubai where India are playing all their games. This will be the second game in Rawalpindi as they have hosting back-to-back fixtures on Monday and Tuesday. We should have a better idea of what to expect with scoring in this game after watching Bangladesh v New Zealand on Monday. There was no ODI cricket here between 2006 and 2020, then Zimbabwe toured so it’s hard to read too much into that. New Zealand played two ODI’s in 2023 – the two scores were 288/7 and 336/5 – both were chased successfully.

RECOMMENDED BET:

We have a fascinating game here – obviously Australia are missing some key players through injury, but they managed to find a way to win against England. I would expect a similar game here in the sense that the Aussie bowling attack isn’t that strong now, so we should have a high scoring game. You always have to worry a little about South Africa in big games – they carry the chokers tag for a reason – however, in what should be good batting conditions their bowling might just win them the game here. They are worth having a small bet on at 2.3 or bigger.

The Edge Says:
One point win South Africa to beat Australia at 2.3 with BETDAQ Betting Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

So far the best in-running strategy for the games in Pakistan has been to support the batting side – we’ve had some pretty big first inning scores to begin with, and then you obviously have to make a decision at the innings break whether or not to switch to the chasing side. It’s worth considering that we do have a small sample of ground data here, so I would confirm that we have good batting conditions in the opening overs before forming a set in-running plan, but once that’s confirmed this is going to be a game where you want to look for trades on either batting side – especially given the nature of the games we’ve had in Pakistan so far.
