Bangladesh v South Africa

MATCH OVERVIEW:

South Africa are back in action at the Cricket World Cup after hammering England at the weekend as they take on Bangladesh. South Africa have put themselves in a fantastic position, but they went into the game the weekend as underdogs. This time they are massive favourites on BETDAQ Betting Exchange and we all know South Africa don’t have a great history when they are huge favourites. They tend to struggle more in games they are expected to win!

England fans will be hoping Bangladesh can do them a massive favour here. After losses against New Zealand, Afghanistan and South Africa the holders find themselves in a terrible situation. I know South Africa had that shocking upset against Netherlands, but apart from that it’s been hard to fault them. It’s actually hard to believe they have beaten Australia by 134 runs and England by 229 runs, and in between lost to the Netherlands who aren’t even a full member! Probably the only worry you’d have about South Africa here is the choke factor.

Bangladesh have made a lot of progress in recent years, their bowling has definitely improved a lot and they have some batting stars too. They are still short of being top quality though. They have moved away from the likes of Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, but they’re still short of the likes of South Africa. England, New Zealand and India have all beaten them comfortably and it would be a surprise if South Africa didn’t go on that list.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

South Africa will be delighted to be back at the Wankhede in Mumbai after thrashing England here at the weekend. They post 399/7 after some absolute carnage at the death. England said they bowled first because of ground stats; that had to be based off the IPL and to be honest that’s so different. It’s a night time and you have the dew factor too. It was way too hot during the day and they paid the price in the field late on. After seeing that, whoever wins the toss here will bat first and have good batting conditions too.

RECOMMENDED BET:

It’s hard to see past South Africa here, and the 1.3 is big enough to back in my opinion. They have a huge amount in their favour; they will know ground conditions very well after the weekend plus their batting unit is absolutely firing. Their bowlers can have success after this Bangladesh side, and in very high scoring conditions South Africa have the better power hitting. I’m not going to go crazy with the stakes as I feel the toss is important here but I can only see one way traffic for South Africa here.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

While England got blown away in the chase here at the weekend, usually we do see good batting conditions for both sides. I would expect a big score in the first innings again, and in the Mumbai heat that could easily drain the side batting second. As I said above, the toss is fairly big here and I would be happy to support the batting side; if that’s South Africa I’d expect a 1.01 train and if that’s Bangladesh it might bring the sides closer together.
