T20 WORLD CUP: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Tuesday’s T20 World Cup match between Oman v Bangladesh with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The pressure is on in Oman on Tuesday as Bangladesh need to bounce back and beat Oman after losing to Scotland on the opening day of the tournament. I have to say although I was expecting some shocks at this stage of the tournament, I didn’t expect Bangladesh to lose. I felt we would see Sri Lanka lose in their group, or possible Ireland lose to Namibia but Bangladesh losing to Scotland was a massive shock. Especially when Scotland only posted 140/9, and even more so than when Scotland were 53/6! We had so much drama already on BETDAQ Betting Exchange, and we have so many games to go!

With Scotland’s win, Bangladesh find themselves needing to beat Oman and PNG to get through. They could still top the group too, as Scotland are certain to beat either of those sides. It just goes to show how strong associate cricket is at the moment. You’d have to feel that Bangladesh will beat PNG, so that leaves today as the crunch game. Bangladesh are going to start at a bigger price than they started against Scotland too so there will be nervy times ahead.

Oman have made a lot of progress in recent years, much like Scotland, and they have home advantage to look forward to here as well. Oman hammered PNG for ten wickets in their first game, but you have to feel Bangladesh will win here. I know I felt the same before the Scotland game, but the quality Bangladesh have in their side should shine through here.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

The jury is still out on conditions in Oman in my opinion, and I won’t be going into this game expecting anything. I feel we didn’t even learn much from the opening two games – PNG could only manage 129/9 and then Oman scored 131/0 in 13.4 overs. Judging off that, you would have expect Bangladesh to chase the 140/9 from Scotland easily but they failed. I still feel par is much bigger than the scores we have seen, but it’s hard to put a number on it – we have no historical data here.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Although I was wrong in the Scotland v Bangladesh game, I’m happy to take the 1.28 on Bangladesh here. I know they started with a loss and now they are under more pressure, and also the fact that Oman have home advantage, but I wouldn’t have Bangladesh at a higher price to beat Oman than Scotland. They still have a very impressive side with some top quality players. They should get the job done here – if I was them I’d bat first and they can smack the ball to all parts.

The Edge Says:
One point win Bangladesh to beat Oman at 1.28 with BETDAQ Betting Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

On the opening day I had no in-running strategy in Oman because I didn’t know what to expect from conditions. To be honest I still feel that way – I don’t think we learned anything from the opening day of play – we had an easy chase and a tricky chase – the scores weren’t miles apart and I’m unsure what a par score is at the moment. I would be confident on Bangladesh if they batted first, and possibly Oman could be worth a trade if they batted, but other than that this is another game to keep stakes low in.
