T20 WORLD CUP: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Wednesday’s T20 World Cup match between INDIA v AFGHANISTAN with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
We have a busy Wednesday at the T20 World Cup with another double header, but I’m happy to focus on the second game on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as India take on Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi. This will be a very interesting game. India are still dealing with the fallout from losing their opening two games against Pakistan and New Zealand, essentially knocking them out of the tournament because of the way the Group has panned out with Namibia and Scotland in it. India, in theory, could still qualify but they need a miracle we’ve never seen in sport.
Afghanistan are right in the mix however, and what an achievement it would be if they reached the Semi-Final stage – especially with everything that’s happened in their home country. New Zealand play Namibia earlier in the day, and they are fully expected to win that as they trade 1.07 before a ball is bowled. That would put them level on points with Afghanistan, however for the moment Afghanistan have the better net run rate – that could easily change depending how comfortably New Zealand beat Namibia though. What chance do Afghanistan have of beating India here? The markets have India 1.26 but I have to say that looks more than a little short. They have a team of stars, but they haven’t played good cricket yet!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We have a double header here on Tuesday, but there’s such a gulf in class in those games I would prefer not to read too much into them. South Africa v Bangladesh would have been a decent guide, but that’s a day game. To be honest across the UAE chasing has looked like a massive edge. Take the England v Sri Lanka game for example, bar a wonder innings from Buttler Sri Lanka would have very likely won. England could bare grip the ball with the heavy dew and Sri Lanka traded odds on in the chase. We have yet to see a very level game here to see what a par score is, but it’s a no brainer at the toss – you have to bowl first so you can chase with the dew.
RECOMMENDED BET:
The reality here is that India will likely outclass Afghanistan. I think anyone that looks at the teams and the markets can understand that. However, I do feel Afghanistan have a better chance of winning than the odds suggest, and I’m happy to have a small bet on them at 4.4 to cause a real upset. I know this India team is incredibly talented but they just haven’t played good cricket yet. They have been poor with the bat and if Afghanistan won the toss and bowled I can see this game very being close.
The Edge Says:
One point win Afghanistan to beat India at 4.4 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Looking at how India have batted in the World Cup so far, you’d definitely want to take on their batting. Afghanistan have some world class bowlers too. However, when you watch this World Cup you can quickly see the best edge so far has been to support the team bowling first. Apart from the games involving the minnows chasing has been a big advantage. England might have successfully defended against Sri Lanka the other night, but that took a Buttler 100 in the first innings. As I said above, this market can get very interesting if India bat first and there’s a heavy dew.
