WOLVES V CRYSTAL PALACE
8pm Friday Night Football comes from Molineux this week as Wolves host Crystal Palace. It’s fair to say that both sides have had very up and down starts to the season, and they both sit beside each other in the table with 10 points after six games. There’s no doubt that Crystal Palace will be the happier of the sides with that total, as Wolves would like to challenge for a Europa League spot again after falling to get into the tournament this season.
Wolves had a slow start to the season, with an eye catching 4-0 loss to West Ham. They have recovered well though with two 1-0 wins which they grinded out over Fulham and Leeds. They were lucky to beat Leeds however, and could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Newcastle last weekend. Looking at their xG numbers it’s clear that they aren’t playing good football at the start of the season. In fairness to them, they are a great side for grinding out results, but they do look very short at 2.0 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange.
In an ideal world, I’d love to take on Wolves at the moment with a slightly better side than Crystal Palace. However, the fixture list is what it is and we have to find value as best we can in each fixture. Palace were impressive last weekend against Fulham, creating an xG of 2.69 however we must remember Fulham have been poor this season. In general, Palace have struggled to create a lot of chances. Their four xG’s before Fulham read; 0.80, 0.14, 0.69 and 1.82. They have had to play Manchester United, Everton and Chelsea in that run – and in fairness they did enough to beat United at Old Trafford.
I feel this game screams a lack of goals on paper. Wolves haven’t been creating chances and neither have Palace. While the Wolves lay is a very tempting bet at 2.0 as I see the game being a lot closer than those odds suggest, under 2.5 goals is my bet at 1.6. I can easily see a 0-0 here, but it’s going to be a very cagey game without many chances created in my opinion.
The Striker Says:
Two points win Under 2.5 goals at 1.6 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange
