BOURNEMOUTH V SOUTHAMPTON
12.15pm It’s FA Cup Quarter Final weekend and we have a cracking weekend ahead! Don’t forget all football bets are 0% Commission on BETDAQ Betting Exchange today too so you can get the best prices. We kick off the day with Championship side Bournemouth hosting Southampton, although it wasn’t so long ago that this would have been an all Premier League clash. Bournemouth will fancy their chances in this game as Southampton have been in reasonably poor form lately. I wouldn’t say that they are playing terrible football, but they just aren’t playing well enough to win and they are losing close games. It’s hard to see this being a very open affair, and that will probably suit Bournemouth.
Since beating Liverpool 1-0 at the start of the year, Southampton have only managed one win from 12 Premier League games. That win also came against Sheffield United who we all know have been poor this season. As I said, Southampton aren’t playing really bad football but they just aren’t inspiring confidence. I feel this is a game for low stakes as I’m keen to be against Southampton and lay them at 2.1 but it’s also difficult to place a lot of trust in Bournemouth. I have to go with the odds and value, and that is the Southampton lay. Bournemouth could be having a better season in the Championship as they are only in 7th – I still feel they will make this game closer than odds of 2.1 suggest however and we should have a very cagey game. I wouldn’t rule out 0-0, and that could be worth backing in the Correct Score market.
The Striker Says:
One point lay (liability) Southampton to beat Bournemouth at 2.1 with BETDAQ Betting Exchange

MATCH STATS
- Bournemouth won their only previous FA Cup tie against Southampton, winning 3-1 in a first round replay in 1953-54.
- Southampton are unbeaten in their last four away games against Bournemouth in all competitions (W2 D2), since a 0-2 Premier League loss in March 2016.
- This is just Bournemouth’s second appearance in the FA Cup quarter-final, with the Cherries losing to Manchester United’s ‘Busby Babes’ in their only previous such game in March 1957.
- Southampton have reached the FA Cup semi-final in just one of the last 17 seasons, doing so in 2017-18 before being eliminated by eventual winners Chelsea.
- Bournemouth have progressed from just four of their 29 FA Cup ties against top-flight opponents, though they did beat Premier League side Burnley in the last round.
- Southampton have progressed from 21 of their last 23 FA Cup ties against sides from a lower division, losing against Bristol Rovers in February 2008 and Derby in January 2019.
- Only one of the last 13 FA Cup quarter-final ties to see a side from a lower division face top-flight opponents has ended with the lower-ranked side progressing – then Championship side (and holders) Wigan Athletic knocking out Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City in March 2014.
- Bournemouth striker Sam Surridge has scored in three of his last five FA Cup matches, with each of his three goals coming against Premier League opposition – vs Fulham (Jan 2019), Arsenal (Jan 2020) and vs Burnley (Feb 2021).
EVERTON V MANCHESTER CITY
5.30pm We finish our FA Cup Saturday with an excellent tie as Everton host Man City. The draw hasn’t been kind to Everton, we all know that, but they will welcome the change in competition as their Top Four chances in the Premier League have taken a massive hit in recent weeks. They were flying high after beating Liverpool an Anfield for the first time in many years, but then they were outplayed against Chelsea and lost 2-1 to Burnley. xG says they were very unlucky to lose to Burnley, but those are the breaks and now they find themselves in 7th place – they could even miss out on the Europa League. They simply have to win their game in hand soon, but that’s for another day. Today they face the difficult task of stopping the wonderful City, and it’s hard to see anything bar a City win.
City have bounced straight back to winning ways after Man United ended their long winning run. They’ve scored eight goals in two Premier League games, and were in full control of their Champions League tie too. They are playing very impressive football at the moment, and it’s hard to argue with odds of 1.34. That’s a bet for any BETDAQ Multiple this weekend. For this game though I like City to have a fast start as they have been excellent lately. Everton are having a good season, but they consistently come up short against the top sides. I know they beat Liverpool recently but Liverpool have been poor this year. City Half Time/Full Time is 1.9 and that looks a better value bet than some of the handicap or goal markets.
The Striker Says:
Two points win Manchester City Half Time/Full Time at 1.9 with BETDAQ Betting Exchange
