CHELSEA V LIVERPOOL

3pm It’s Carabao Cup Final time on Sunday as Chelsea face Liverpool on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. It’s fair to say that usually the top Premier League clubs look down on this competition, that is of course until they reach the latter stages then it becomes massively important! We should have a cracking game here though, and there’s plenty of talking points heading into it. It’s not a surprise to see Liverpool as the favourites, they have been much better than Chelsea this season. Liverpool are trading 2.26 with Chelsea 3.35 and the draw is 3.8 at the time of writing.

Chelsea have been just as poor this season as they were last season, but this is their biggest game of the season. I have asked the question in recent weeks why Mauricio Pochettino wasn’t getting the same heat as Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. He definitely got hot and bothered after conceding four goals against Liverpool and then another four against Wolves. He went back at the media, but surely his job could be under immense pressure if Chelsea lose. We all know how trigger happy they are with managers! The board has to know changing managers so much doesn’t work long-term, and while Pochettino will be given time you have to say this has been a shocking disappointing season for Chelsea bar this competition.

For Liverpool, they hammered Chelsea 4-1 less than a month ago and they will just be thinking do the same again. The only difference here is Liverpool don’t have home advantage, but they finished that game which such a high xG figure I don’t think Wembley will make a difference. We all know Chelsea can produce a decent performance, they did pick up a draw against Manchester City recently, but it’s really hard to see past a Liverpool win here. I’d have them trading odds on personally.

Even in the 1-1 draw between Manchester City and Chelsea, Pochettino’s men conceded an xG of 2.43 – if City took their chances they should have won, it was just one of those days. Liverpool have an average xG created of 2.15 in the Premier League this season which is remarkably impressive – Manchester City are marginally ahead of them but that attacking figure is fantastic. Chelsea have an average xG created of 1.5 which is basically mid-table form, and they are just conceding a little bit under that at 1.47 – again pretty much mid-table form.

Chelsea can’t argue that they shouldn’t be in mid-table! Liverpool tick every box for me here, and we should have an open game too. Both sides have been involved in games with plenty of goals this season – I think Klopp only knows one way to set his side up anyway, and Chelsea aren’t really good enough to stop conceding chances. As I said above, I’d have Liverpool odds on here and in my opinion the 2.26 offers exceptional value given the gulf in class between the sides this season. I feel we’re getting so much value here that Liverpool are worth a Max Bet!
