SUNDAY PREMIER LEAGUE: The Striker previews Sunday’s Premier League game between LEEDS UNITED v LIVERPOOL at 4.30pm with a recommended BETDAQ bet and extended match stats.
LEEDS V LIVERPOOL
4.30pm We only have one Premier League game to enjoy on Sunday afternoon, but it’s an absolute cracker as Leeds host Liverpool. On paper, this could be a crazy game – both sides love to attack and leave plenty of gaps at the back. Hopefully we get an early spark and we could see five or more goals between the sides. I’m sure there will be plenty of big opinions either way on the goals market on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. Last season, Liverpool won 4-3 at Anfield while at Elland Road it was 1-1. I’d be surprised if we saw under 2.5 goals win however!
I’m actually surprised to see over 2.5 goals trading as big as 1.6, and it might be difficult to find a better value bet than that. Liverpool are trading around 1.8 at the time of writing, with Leeds around 4.5 and the draw 4.3. Leeds have had a reasonably slow start to the season with only two draws from three games. Their first half at Old Trafford was a very entertaining affair but then it all went wrong in the second half and they lost 5-1. Then they drew 2-2 with Everton with an xG of only 1.06 and 1-1 with Burnley with an xG of 1.49.
It’s fair to say Leeds haven’t clicked into gear yet. Perhaps more worrying is the fact they conceded xG’s of 1.67 against Burnley and 1.96 against Everton with home advantage. Although they did concede too many chances last season, so nothing much has changed there. Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw against Chelsea after hammering Norwich and Burnley to start their season. Klopp’s side were exceptionally unlucky not to win, creating an xG of 3.35!
That type of performance against a side like Chelsea is obviously very eye-catching, and maybe Liverpool are finally getting back to their best. This is a very good test for them to see where they are really. If over 2.5 goals didn’t offer so much value at 1.6, I would be backing Liverpool at 1.8. Leeds just haven’t been creating chances this season even though it’s early, but they still look pretty weak at the back. That will be the difference for me and Liverpool will win the game. Even though Liverpool beat Norwich 3-0 away from home, they gave away an xG of 1.81 and I can only see an open game here with plenty of chances for both sides. Overs is very much worth backing at 1.6.
