Things have got very interesting at the top of La Liga in recent weeks with Atletico Madrid dropping points. They were very unlucky to lose to Levante but Real Madrid won’t care as they are now within touching distance – it’s going to be a superb finish to the season! Real Madrid just have to keep winning and hope Atletico continue to drop points, and they can’t afford to drop points in games like this.
If you think back to the start of the season, Real Sociedad were on fire. They topped the table for a while and were playing some very impressive football. Since then the wheels have fallen off and they have fallen off dramatically. They have dropped out of the top four and they don’t look like getting back into the Champions League spots either. They now have a fight on their hands for a Europa League spot.
They were dumped out of that competition on Thursday by Manchester United. They played out a boring 0-0, but the damage was done before that with a 4-0 loss in the first leg. Real Madrid have built up some good form in recent weeks with some confident wins in La Liga. They have been keeping clean sheets too and looking at the xG figures they have been pretty impressive at the back. This was highlighted midweek in the Champions League with a 1-0 win away to Atalanta; they only conceded an xG of 0.15 and created 1.72 in a game they dominated. Atalanta were big favourites heading into that tie too.
Although Sociedad have slightly turned their fortunes around in recent weeks after a long run without a win, this looks an excellent opportunity to back Real Madrid at 1.96 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. They might be below par this season but I can’t ignore them at a price like this. They played superbly midweek and if they play anywhere close to that level they will win easily.
