CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PREVIEW: The Ultra previews CELTIC v ATLETICO MADRID, NEWCASTLE v DORTMUND and YOUNG BOYS v MANCHESTER CITY all with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
CELTIC V ATLETICO MADRID
8pm We have a superb night in the Champions League on Wednesday! We have it all on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE with competitive markets and very short favourites too. We start the evening in Group E with Celtic hosting Atletico Madrid. Celtic have it all to do in this Group after losing their opening two games, but realistically their aim here is to get into the Europa League rather than qualifying for the Last 16 given the quality in the Group. It’s actually very open at the moment with Lazio and Atletico on four points with Feyenoord on three points. It comes as standard that the stadium will be absolutely rocking, and this is always a difficult place to come. On paper, you’d expect Atletico to win but they have been having some issues away from home this season. They got the job done at the weekend when beating Celta Vigo 3-0, but Celta Vigo are sitting in the relegation zone in La Liga and the Atletico perform level away from home is still worrying. They are only averaging an xG of 1.19 away from home in La Liga, and they are actually conceding more chances than that too.
Atletico come into the game as the favourites, there is a gulf in class between the sides after all, but they aren’t trading odds on. They are just marginally odds against at 2.02 with Celtic and the draw both trading 3.85. Celtic are already seven points clear in the Scottish Premiership but Rangers are going through a period of transition at the moment since Steven Gerrard left. They are scoring a lot of goals, but it has to be a worry how big the gulf in class is between Scotland and Spain. I take that on board, but I still feel the 2.02 is worth a small lay just purely because Atletico have struggled so much away from home. I just feel Celtic can make this one closer than the odds suggest, especially with their passionate home support which will be rocking. Of course, I’m very happy to keep stakes limited here – this is definitely a game for small stakes but Atletico look a nice lay at the odds.
The Ultra Says:
One point lay (liability) Atletico Madrid to beat Celtic at 2.02 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

NEWCASTLE V DORTMUND
8pm Newcastle host Dortmund next and this is the latest blockbuster game in Group F! This is the best Group in the Champions League this season, and it’s very open looking too after two games. Newcastle are in the box seat at the moment with four points, PSG have three, AC Milan two and then Dortmund with one. Newcastle absolutely lifted the roof off the stadium with a win over PSG here last time, and you just know the atmosphere will be exceptional again. Newcastle come into the game as the odds on favourites; they are currently trading 1.77 with Dortmund at 5.0 and the draw is 4.1. Both sides won at the weekend, Newcastle hammered Crystal Palace here 4-0 to move into the top six after having a difficult fixture list at the start of the season. Dortmund are still unbeaten in the Bundesliga after eight games; they are two points behind Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the table. Although they are unbeaten, they will actually be disappointed because they have dropped points against Heidenheim and Bochum – two sides that will be involved in the relegation battle this season. It would actually be a surprise if both stayed up I think. It’s been hard to fault Newcastle for the last year; their under-lining numbers have been exceptional and even though they have dropped a few points this season they have been pretty solid at the back. Their average xG conceded is just 1.15 – that’s the third best figure in the Premier League at the moment.
Newcastle have been very good going forward too; their average xG created is 1.69 which is in the top six. Dortmund are creating just marginally less at 1.68 in the Bundesliga, and they are conceding more at an average xG conceded of 1.27. They are still impressive figures; pretty much in the top four/five in the Bundesliga but obviously the Premier League is a higher level than the Bundesliga. The key here could be Newcastle have home advantage. Dortmund have been conceding more chances away from home this season, while Newcastle have been top class at home. Not only that but we all know the stadium will be rocking again; much like PSG this is going to be a very difficult evening for Dortmund and with them conceding an average xG of 1.54 away from home in the Bundesliga I can’t see past a Newcastle win here. I couldn’t put anyone off the home win at 1.77, I would even recommend it, but I’m going to take a chance and back Newcastle -1.5 goals to cover the Handicap at 3.0 – I fancy them to win impressively.
The Ultra Says:
Two points win Newcastle -1.5 goals to beat Dortmund at 3.0 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

YOUNG BOYS V MANCHESTER CITY
8pm We move over to Group G to finish the evening as Manchester City travel to take on Young Boys. Everything is going to plan for City in the Champions League thus far this season; they have two wins from two games and their aim will be the tick these two games off against Young Boys and rest players for the final two fixtures with top spot locked in. They should have no problem achieving that, and they are trading massively odds on to win here. They are 1.21 at the time of writing which is the shortest price in the Champions League this week by one tick! Barcelona are 1.22 at home, but there’s such a gulf in class between the sides here I don’t think home advantage matters much. The biggest issue for City here will be the artificial pitch – the pitch at the Wankdorf Stadium has faced a huge amount of criticism. Manchester United’s Luke Shaw called it dangerous when United played here! It might be interesting to see what XI Pep Guardiola decides to name here; the reality is City could win here with the second XI. He might opt to rest his key stars if they have major worries with the pitch.
Guardiola has taken a step to give his side a training session on the pitch, which isn’t usually the City prep. It will be interesting to see is there any vibes from that, and you might get an idea what side he might name off that. Jose Mourinho also came out against the surface when he managed United back in 2018. Although it’s hard to see past a City win, given the situation you wouldn’t exactly be rushing to back them at 1.21. It’s a very short price, but there’s such a gulf in class between the sides they will get the job done here. The goals market might be the interesting one; Guardiola could easily make some changes if they went two goals ahead or just let the side settle back and control the game. This is definitely a game for low stakes, but I don’t see City conceding. Both Teams Not To Score is trading 1.75 and that looks very nice value. Plus you have the added bonus of not having to worry how many goals City will score in the Over/Under market either.
The Ultra Says:
Two points win Both Teams Not To Score at 1.75 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
