WEDNESDAY BUNDESLIGA: The Ultra previews MAINZ v UNION BERLIN with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

5.30pm We have a massive relegation battle from the Bundesliga on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE this Wednesday as Mainz host Union Berlin. These two sides were due to meet on January 19th but bad weather meant the game had to be postponed. Unfortunately for both sides, their situation hasn’t got better since! Mainz are in the relegation zone now and Union Berlin are just above the bottom three. The situation for Mainz has definitely got worse – they were in the relegation playoff spot when this game was first schedule, now they are four points off Koln.
You’d have to say that this is an absolutely must win game for Mainz – but then you could say that about every game for them at the moment. Also, we are calling this a relegation battle because of where Union Berlin are sitting in the table, but this is a side that finished in the top four last season. I know they massively over-performed to get there, but still they were able to grind out so many results. Everyone is expecting Union Berlin to move up the table, and perhaps a recent win Darmstadt can start that move. They have bumped into Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig recently too, losing both games but not getting hammered.
Mainz lost again here at the weekend, and that puts their run to nine Bundesliga games without a win. They have only managed one win all season, ironically coming against one of the top sides in the league in RB Leipzig! Obviously we have two sides here who have been struggling for results, and there are plenty of negatives with both of them. Mainz come into the game as clear favourites however; the home win is trading 2.24 with Union Berlin 3.75 and the draw is 3.4 at the time of writing.
I have to say the 2.24 feels exceptionally short. I know Union Berlin have been very poor this season, and their stats are pretty poor away from home too, I just expect a closer game than the odds suggest here. I am going to limit stakes of course because that Union Berlin away form is definitely a major worry but Mainz just haven’t been good enough to justify their short odds here.
