EUROPA LEAGUE FINAL: The Ultra previews TOTTENHAM v MANCHESTER UNITED with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
TOTTENHAM V MANCHESTER UNITED
8pm It’s Europa League Final time on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE! Spurs and Manchester United meet in Bilbao aiming to save their seasons. You wouldn’t be out of place calling both of these clubs “a joke” in the Premier League this season – they are sitting in 16th and 17th having not won a domestic game for weeks – but here they are, only 90 minutes away from winning a major European trophy. Both lost again coming into this game last Friday, but it’s clear that their focus has been on this tournament for quite some time.
It’s actually hard to read too much into their domestic form to be honest. Both have opted to rest players; they’ve clearly been low on motivation. Possibly the most disappointing thing is that the players who have got a chance to impress and force their way into this starting XI or squad have performed so poorly. Both clubs have so many issues going on behind the scenes, and Champions League football for the winner is a chance to try and correct that with the extra money.
A win for both clubs is absolutely massive. For Spurs, it would be a first major trophy – following Newcastle and Crystal Palace in the Premier League this season after they landed the two domestic Cups. For Manchester United, it papers over the cracks of a desperate domestic season which has broken records for them this season – all the records you don’t want to have broken too! Ruben Amorim speaks very well, but is almost too honest with the media – almost like Ralf Rangnick was and he didn’t last long. He seems a very honourable man who could easily fix United; whether or not he actually gets the time to do that is the big debate, and the result here will have a direct impact on that too.
It’s no surprise that we have a very open betting heat. The reality is that it’s hard to have confidence in either side this season. United are unbeaten in Europe though – which is at least a good stat given they created a new record on Friday – they’ve gone the whole Premier League season without back-to-back wins, which is incredible stat for a club that size. United come into the game as the favourites at 2.6 with Spurs 2.98 and the draw is 3.5 at the time of writing. Despite all the issues for both clubs; this should be a cracking game. The problems at both clubs only make the fixture more interesting to be honest!
On the bare numbers, United have played the marginally better football this season. Both have clearly been under-performing. Spurs have the marginally better average xG created at 1.58 compared to United at 1.53. The big difference is at the back though – United have been more solid with an average xG conceded of 1.35 with Spurs much higher at 1.53. Both clubs have been very sloppy at the back – a mistake is never far away with these two which has been the case all season. Another big difference though is that Spurs are over-performing up front, scoring above their xG, while United are massively under-performing. Their converted goals average is only 1.14 – they desperately need a striker during the summer.
Obviously it’s quite easy to pick holes in both sides. We have an open betting heat, to be honest I would have it even more open. The 2.6 on United looks a little shorter to me; I know they have the better history with winning trophies but I’d have the market pretty even. I’m happy to stay away from the match odds market here though because I like goals. Over 2.5 goals is trading 2.04 with Both Teams To Score 1.8. I couldn’t put anyone off either bet to be honest given all the mistakes at the back this season, but at odds against I prefer the Over 2.5 goals option in what should be a very entertaining game.
The Ultra Says:
Two points win Over 2.5 goals at 2.04 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
