WEEK AHEAD: A cracking week of sport lies ahead with the return of the Champions League, top class golf from the PGA Tour, and more crucial Premier League matchups.
We start the week on Monday again in India, on day 3 of the second Test. The first Test was a thriller with Joe Root’s England getting the upper hand, although this will be a tougher task with Virat Kohli and India looking to bounce back. The action will again be live on Channel 4 from 4am through to the final day on Wednesday. The evening brings two games from the Premier League with West Ham hosting Sheffield United and a Chelsea side looking to extend their unbeaten run under Thomas Tuchel against Newcastle.
Tuesday and Wednesday brings four fixtures from the Champions League last-16 all live on BT Sport, English sides are represented on Tuesday by Liverpool as they take on RB Leipzig. The other meetings are not short in quality either with Barcelona hosting PSG, Sevilla v Borussia Dortmund, and finally Porto v Juventus. Meanwhile Amazon Prime feature the Premier League game between Everton and Manchester City live from 20:15 on Wednesday.
Thursday rolls around and with it brings the action from the Europa League where no less than five UK teams can be seen, again all live on BT Sport. Elsewhere on Thursday the Genesis Invitational, hosted by Tiger Woods, begins on Sky Sports (19:00), with the coverage running throughout the rest of the week. It’s one of the biggest tournaments on the PGA Tour and with a star-studded role of honour, a top-class field can be expected to be teeing it up at the iconic Riviera.
Weekend warm up duties are with Wolves as they play host to Leeds on Friday evening, before a bumper two days of Premier League fixtures. Southampton host Chelsea in the early kick-off on Saturday before the big Merseyside derby on Sky Sports at 17:30, as Everton make the short journey to Anfield in what is always one of the most heated and intense games of the season. Sunday sees another four Premier League games headlined by Arsenal v Manchester City (16:30), before the week draws to a close from Old Trafford as Manchester United face Newcastle. A bumper card this week dominated by top-draw footballing fixtures not to be missed.
