PREVIEW
There’s a growing belief around Wimbledon that Andy Murray can finally bring an end to Britain’s male Grand Slam drought following two impressive victories and Rafa Nadal’s shock loss to Lukas Rosol. The Spaniard’s defeat means that Murray’s path to the final suddenly looks far less hazardous – but he would be foolish to underestimate any of his opponents – including Marco Baghdatis.

Baghdatis has not enjoyed a great start to the year and early defeats at both Eastbourne and Queen’s suggest he looks likely to struggle at SW19. The Greek Cypriot is a colourful character and will certainly fancy his chances of an upset. His best effort at the All-England Club was six years ago in a run that ended at the semi-finals. That year was the last time Murray and Baghdatis met on this surface and it ended in a disappointing three set defeat for the Brit.

A lot has changed since that contest and the world number four is currently streets ahead of his next opponent. After showing plenty of rustiness at Queen’s, Murray looks to have found form at the right time and his 3-1 win over Ivo Karlovic will have done wonders for his confidence.

At around 1.8 on BETDAQ, Murray looks a good shout to make up for that Wimbledon hammering six years ago and hand Baghdatis a three sets defeat.
