Sixty five horses remain in line for Saturday’s Aintree Grand National at the five day declaration stage with eight horses being withdrawn this morning writes BETDAQ’s JOHN SHERIDAN.

There were no big surprises in those were taken out of the list with all the main protagonists standing their ground headed by Tidal Bay and Long Run.

Irish entrants, Roi Du Mee, Bog Warrior and Mossey Joe were not declared with Mossey Joe heading to the Foxhunters Chase instead. Katenko, Same Difference and Goulanes were also taken off the list with Godsmejugdge and Sunnyhillboy both declared as non runners at the end of last week.

A maximum field of 40 will line up for the great race at 4.15 on Saturday with Teaforthree at the head of the market on the BETDAQ Exchanges on 10.0. Top weights, Long Run and Tidal Bay are next best in the market on 14.0 and 16.0 respectively. Other market leaders Monbeg Dude, Triolo D’Alene and Prince De Beauchene are all guaranteed to get a run if they are declared at the 48 hour stage on Thursday.

One In A Milan in currently number 40 on the list just ahead of Irish raider Goonyella and the David Pipe trained Swing Bill.

As expected, Sam Twiston-Davies has been provisionally booked to ride Tidal Bay with Noel Fehily set to ride Rocky Creek for Paul Nicholls who also has Hawkes Point in the race and will be ridden by Ryan Mahon.

Aidan Coleman has been secured by Kim Bailey to ride Great Yorkshire Chase winner, The Rainbow Hunter while Paddy Brennan will be on Alvarado for Fergal O’Brien if Paul Moloney is unavailable.

Last year’s winning combination of Ryan Mania and Sue Smith will once again team up with Mr Moonshine while Smith’s other runner, Vintage Star, owned by Trevor Hemmings, will be ridden by Brian Hughes.

Peter Maher’s Big Shu, winner of the Cross Country race at Cheltenham will be the mount of Peter Buchanan as Paul Carberry has elected to ride Monbeg Dude. Wayne Hutchinson will ride Walkon for Alan King.
