GRADED ACTION AT LIMERICK: SHAMROCK has a Sunday NAP in the 3.40 at Limerick. The Grade 2 Dawn Run Mares Novice Chase.
The first thing I do on a racecard is scan down to see if Willie Mullins has a runner, and I would think it’s what most of the other trainers do as well!
Such is the sheer quality and quantity of the stable that it’s rare for any big race to go by without a representative but the door has opened for another trainer to land the Grade 2 Dawn Run Mares Novice Chase at Limerick this afternoon.
It’s a decent price too, best part of €30k to the winner and I am taking a chance with Caoimhe’s Delight being good enough to land this ahead of her better fancied market rivals.
Caoimhe’s Delight has form tied in with the leading contenders and although a beaten favourite at Thurles last time out is likely to be better suited by the drop in trip today and the mare can account for Byerley Babe who might just have her stamina tested (2m 4f seems optimum) and the English raider Baby Shine. Don’t get misled by her second place last time out – it came in a two horse race and she was the odds-on favourite !
