NAVAN GRADE 2 ACTION: The racing focus switches firmly on the flat today with the start of the UK flat racing season at Doncaster and the Dubai World Cup at Meydan but jumps fans are catered for by Navan’s card which includes the Grade 2 Webster Cup Chase.
No joy at Dundalk last night with my nap finishing third in the final race on the card.
Jumps action from Navan today includes the Grade 2 Webster Cup Chase for which a field of just four go to post but it’s quite an open market on BETDAQ.
It’s not surprising to see Baily Green trading as favourite. He was still going OK before falling in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. He went off a 14/1 chance in the race won by Sire De Grugy and fell four out. It was too early to say what would have happened but a placed finish was by no means out of the question.
He is preferred today to Bog Warrior who was disappointing at Down Royal last time out when a well beaten fourth of five behind Yes Tom in a trial for the Grand National.
The Dessie Hughes trained Emperor Of Exmoor was a close second at Leopardstown last time out and should be able to get off the mark in the second race on the card. He’s dropping back in trip but that shouldn’t inconvenience and there’s precious little to get excited about in terms of his rivals that have already raced.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
