WEXFORD NAP: Wexford stage a late afternoon meeting on Friday and SHAMROCK finds a NAP in the mares maiden hurdle at 4.50.

No joy from the NAP yesterday, Bush Pilot, who was a close second at 2/1. We also had a squeak of a chance in the subsequent stewards enquiry as Bush Pilot was carried left in the closing stages but no joy.

Frustrating, in that I managed to get the Aidan O’Brien trained hotpot, The Islander, beaten into third place and had thought beforehand it was very much a two horse race.

O’Brien did have a winner on the card with El Salvador but the overall form of the yard remains a concern as we head into an important weekend of classic trials.

Since Bracelet won the 1000 Guineas trial at Leopardstown on the 30 March the form of his runners has been 8644433566331 and that has included two beaten odds-on favourites.

Wexford looks very tricky today. Best bet for me is Gold Platinum in the maiden hurdle at 4.50.

She was disqualifed last time out having bypassed two out due to rider error but might well have been an unlucky loser that day. I could easily see her attempting to make all the running here and there doesn’t appear to be much strength in depth.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Gold Platinum (4.50 Wexford)
