LISTED ACTION AT LIMERICK: Former Group 1 Dewhurst winner Parish Hall is in the line-up but SHAMROCK looks elsewhere for the winner.
Listed race action at Limerick this afternoon with the Martin Molony Stakes at 4.45 and it looks quite a competitive renewal.
It’s hard though to get away from last year’s winner Inis Meain who bolted up in this 12 months ago and showed his current well being with a win in the Listed Irish Field Alleged Stakes at the Curragh where he made all the running. He had warmed up for that win, rather unconventionally, with a win in a Navan handicap hurdle in bottomless ground !
On the Curragh form Inis Meain should again account for Tarana (second) and Parish Hall (3rd). Parish Hall remains a good quality horse but it was a shame his career was put on hold with a bad infection with added complications which forced him to miss the whole of the 2012 season having rounded off his juvenile year with a Group 1 win in the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.
Aidan O’Brien (last three runners have won) might be turning the corner at last and he runs El Salvador here who was a winner of a three runner race here at Limerick last time out but he has been so far unable to win in several attempts in Listed company and I fear it will be the same story today.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Inis Meain (4.45 Limerick)
