9-2 WINNER IN DOUBLE WHAMMY: Daqman declared that 6.4 Sweeping Rock (WON 9-2) was ‘irresistible’ yesterday and, sure enough, his week continued in daily profit, starting with a double whammy. In Sweeping Rock’s race at Bath, he also scored with a lay on Captain Oats (unplaced 4-1).

21.0 AND 13.5 OUTSIDERS TODAY: There’s a banker at Uttoxeter today but also 21.0 and 13.5 offers are taken up by Daqman at Lingfield and Catterick. He relies on Ryan Moore at the Sandown evening meeting.

RAPID PROGRESS FOR STOUTE RUNNER

CATTERICK Bop It (4.00) is a live ‘un, despite early-mouse offers of 13.5 on BETDAQ. He’s a couple of pounds off his previous winning mark, has been threatening to win recently and the forecast showers should give him his ideal good ground.

Solar Spirit (4.00) is nine years old; not normally of interest to me but older horses do well in sprints and this one is a Catterick specialist and a place specialist.

His score of seven wins from 82 starts is reasonable for a journeyman sprinter but his place record is outstanding: 30 in that 82, and 15 out of 21 Catterick starts in the frame.

His stable, that of Tracy Waggott, is in top gear (two wins out of three yesterday), and the opposition is decidedly moderate.

Nameitwhatyoulike wants rain; Dark Castle and Avon Breeze to drop a few pounds; Powerful Presence a longer trip; Go Far and Lady Frances an AW surface. That leaves Thatcherite, who is unlikely to put back-to-back wins together at this level.

Staking plan: Bop It is too big at 13.5, early mouse. Solar Spirit offers better than 150% profit on a BETDAQ place-only bet. I shall go win and place Bop It with a place on Solar Spirit that covers the total Bop It investment.

LINGFIELD It’s a low-level day, apart from the Classified (3.40). It would be nice to see Gay Kelleway gain a second success in this memorial to her dad, a fine jumps jockey who had his moments as a trainer.

She has booked Kieren Fallon but, though Act of Charity could be fancied on some of his form, he did not really respond well enough to the application of blinkers for a bet.

Though Marcus Tregoning’s team is flying, Snow Trouble needs some wings; Fashion Line is usually kept to an easier surface; Tenor is without his winning partner, Joe Doyle; Knavery did not go on from his debut win, carrying his head awkwardly last time as if he might be a ‘thinker.’

It left me looking for offers about Alumina to pick up on her six AW successes in a row after a gap of three months in which she has attempted to get some black type on turf.

What I found was 21.0 on BETDAQ. Can’t be right! Over my cornflakes, I could only consider that she might be pulled out later, or that she is the plunge horse of the day. I had my pound on, just in case.

SANDOWN Al Senad beat losers well at Beverley and I was hoping that an eight-lengths winner would be a short price to lay in the opener (6.00) but punters are not impressed.

Amahoro is a long-term bridesmaid but she seemingly has the legs of Mr Dandy Man and Autumns Blush on Bath and Nottingham form.

Royal Brave’s yard hasn’t won at Sandown in five seasons, and six-time-winner Touch The Clouds and National Service were both held by Groundworker at Newmarket before that one won again at Windsor. Ryan Moore rides.

Moore also has a leading chance on Rapid Advance (8.15), gelded since last run, being persevered with by Sir Michael Stoute as if capable of better.

Rapid Advance has already finished in front of Best Kept and High Church and around 3-1 this morning looked generous, since High Church was second in the market.

UTTOXETER The Flat meetings are so dire today that I will rely on A P McCoy to land a banker nap over hurdles with On the Record (4.20) around even money, the rest no chance according to the BETDAQ market.

DAQMAN BETS (Staked to win 20pts, unless otherwise stated)
BET 1pt win and place ALUMINA (3.40 Lingfield)
BET 1.6pts win and place BOP IT, and 2pts place only SOLAR SPIRIT (4.00 Catterick)
BANKER: BET 20pts win (nap) ON THE RECORD (4.20 Uttoxeter)
BET 5.7pts win GROUNDWORKER (6.00 Sandown)
BET 6.6pts win RAPID ADVANCE (8.15 Sandown)
