18 BANKERS UP OUT OF 24: Daqman yesterday hiked his banker strike rate to 75% with number 18 from the last 24, Toogoodtobetrue (WON 1-2), Curragh scorer by six length and eight lengths.
28 POINTS SUNDAY PROFIT: Daqman also named Maisons-Laffitte winner, Western Hymn (WON 6-4), and had a strong place on Caspian Prince (2nd 8-1) for 28 points profit on the day.
BETDAQ RACES TONIGHT: Daqman takes a look at another sponsored race night at Windsor where there are three races on the card. He casts his eagle eye over some very competitive racing.
MAKE A PROFIT IFWECAN AT AYR!
He’s throwing a double six. With rides in the first six races at Ayr today and likely to be booked through the card at Musselburgh tomorrow, Galway-born Graham Lee is the jockey to follow in the North of England this week.
A century of winners in a season is on the cards for the third time in his career – the two so far have been over the jumps – in the great conversion of the Grand National winning jockey to Flat superstar.
Thanks partly to Graham’s magic, Jim Goldie and Keith Dalgleish, for whom he rides at Ayr, both seem sure to pass their best-ever seasonal tallies.
The one I like today is Goldie’s Goninodaethat (2.45), who has won four times at Ayr for Graham and could defy a penalty while the ground is on the soft side.
The six-year-old recently bounced back to form when he turned a 24-lengths firm-ground deficit behind a horse called Jinky to a length-and-a-quarter success eight days later on soft, stepped up a furlong to today’s trip.
Jinky is better off at the weights today but never looked like getting to Goninodaethat on the last day and another seeming danger in the BETDAQ market, Baron Run, reserves his winning form for Hamilton, and Layla’s Hero has scored only once (on AW) in three years.
In the class-2 featured handicap, the three-year-old Ifwecan (4.55) has already mixed it with older horses, splitting the smart Velox and Newbury Spring Cup winner, Gabrial’s Kaka, in the Sandown Challenge earlier in the month.
Ifwecan tried to make all that day in typical Mark Johnston style, and might well be suited to some cut in the ground, since his dam is a daughter of Selkirk and has already had a winner or two on heavy.
Le Chat d’Or is a dual Ayr winner over CD on soft but is high in the weights now, has never put two wins together before and concedes weight and three years to the improving Ifwecan. Ditto Sound Advice.
Muharrer needs further than this and Graham Lee’s ride, Another For Joe, has 16lb more than for his CD win in the Spring.
HUGHES/HANNON DOUBLE IN BETDAQ RACES
6.25 Windsor – BETDAQ 3% Commission British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Fillies Stakes (Bobis Race)
The opening BETDAQ race on the card is a trappy looking Maiden for fillies only and the market may provide the best clues with only a small number of the 16 runners having run previously.
Of those with a run under their belt, Mystic And Artist steps up to 6 furlongs after finishing fourth first time out at Thirsk. Five furlongs was probably a little on the sharp side for her that day and it remains to be seen how suited she will be to six also and may be best watched in this one.
William Haggas and Ralph Beckett have two interesting newcomers that look very well bred with both being related to high quality winners. The booking of Ryan Moore for the Haggas trained Majestic Manner is an interesting choice also and could run well for the Dubawi breed, a sire who is getting plenty of winners of late. Ralph Beckett’s Camagueyana is related to the same stable’s Group 3 winner Cubanita and tonight’s trip may prove to be a little sharp for one that is likely to be bred to stay.
Richard’s Hannon and Hughes team up as always and generally send some nice two year old newcomers to Windsor for their debut. This one cost €56,000 last year and is sure to be well primed for this run. The trip should suit nicely being by Whipper and she could be the one to beat in the opener.
6.55 Windsor – BETDAQ £25 No Lose Free Bet Maiden Stakes
Another Maiden race but this one looks less competitive than the first race with only three that have realistic chances. In saying that, the three that have a chance look like decent sorts.
Mr Greenspan had looked progressive in his early starts but failed to go better than third in his last two. Although he looks slightly exposed, he should still be able to run into a place in this weaker contest and stepping back up in trip.
Mythical Madness from the Godolphin yard has had a run already this season when staying on into second place in a Redcar maiden over today’s trip of a mile and two furlongs. If putting in a similar effort this one could be hard to pass but in this type of race we may look for a little bit more value than evens.
John Gosden’s Tornesel may be the answer. Although he only ran once last year in a seven furlong Maiden last July, the form of that race has worked out quite well with several winners coming out after and the winner went on to be placed at Listed level. Stepping up to a mile and a quarter should be more suitable and I think he may be able to turn over the jolly.
8.25 Windsor – Win £10,000,000 on BETDAQ Colossus Handicap
Several non runners have depleted this Handicap considerably and it is now just a five runner race.
With the smaller field this could play into the hands of the Richard Hannon trained Royal Connection. A winner by the minimum margin at Bath a couple of weeks back, and has some previous course form. Although her form is not all that exciting, she may be able to dictate matters in front having been fairly prominent from early on last time out. This is sure to be a tactical affair and there is no one better to be with than Richard Hughes around Windsor in this type of race and he can complete a double in this one.
Of the remainder, Tides Reach and Unison are sharing favouritism this morning and both are worthy to do so. Tides Reach looks slightly better handicapped than Unison and both could go close once more.
On a tricky night of racing at the London track, I have also included a BETDAQ Multiple with a couple of the alternative choices. I have gone for Hey You in the opener, Mythical Madness and 6.55 finishing off with the very tricky 8.25 where I have added Tides Reach as a second option.
