WELD HOPE WELL IN FOR KERRY NATIONAL: There is no racing in Ireland until Thursday but Shamrock is filling his notebook with handicap prospects, like a well-in Weld runner in next week’s Kerry National. His Irish-bred tips for today are at Leicester and Sedgefield.

Wait for it! Dermot Weld has lined up a massive double across the Irish Sea for the Kerry National and the Newmarket Cambridgeshire.
His dual winner Daffern Seal, an improving seven-year-old, has been given only 10st 6lb in next Wednesday’s big chase at Listowel.

The king of Ballybrit, is also a bit special when he raids British territory. And his entries for the Newmarket Cambridgeshire (September 24) were both being backed yesterday.

The money was for Galway winners at the July festival, Rock Critic and Stunning View, down to 16-1 in places, but sure to be better value later on (there are 18 days to go) when the Betdaq offers open.

The Kerry National is the main feature of the seven-day Listowel Festival, which starts on Sunday, on the same day as the Blandford Stakes at The Curragh.

Our next meeeting is the Laytown races on Thursday. Feature race of the week is the National Stakes on Saturday at The Curragh.
