SHAMROCK AT LEOPARDSTOWN: SHAMROCK landed a winning nap on Wednesday and tonight heads to the evening card at Leopardstown for a look at the Group 3 Desmond Stakes, the highlight on the card.

A winning nap yesterday but it went off REALLY short in the end and only just scrambled home by a head.

Sierra Sun was backed off the boards and went off at 4/9 – no doubt attracting plenty of support for no other reason than it was Pat Smullen onboard who ended the Gowran Park card with a four-timer.

The other selection on the day, I’m Yours, was a non runner in the Listed race.

There’s racing tonight from Leopardstown and Tramore and the feature race of the evening is the Group 3 Desmond Stakes (Group 3) at Leopardstown (7.15).

Alive Alive Oh is predictably a non runner having finished second in the Hurry Harriet Stakes last night at Gowran Park. That was a much improved effort from her and was pleasing to see. She promised so much as a three-year-old but missed many top races because of her need for give in the ground.

In tonight’s race three-year-olds have a good overall record, despite last year it going to Gordon Lord Byron (5yo). The two three-year-olds in tonight’s race are both trained by Aidan O’Brien and both are on the comeback trail after disappointing efforts last time out.

Preference though has to be for Brendan Brackan who is proven at Group level and comes here on the back of a very impressive win in a Listed race at Cork where he had the field well strung out and comfortably landed the odds by making all the running.
