SHAMROCK AT TRAMORE: SHAMROCK is back at Tramore for the final day of their four-day meeting. It’s a jumps only card this afternoon starting at 2.20pm.
Wretched luck yesterday when the nap Columbanus slipped and unseated rider after just a furlong in the opener at Tramore.
There’s Irish racing this afternoon from Dundalk and Tramore.
There will be a lot of head scratching from Mick Halford if Toscanini fails to lose his maiden tag at Dundalk. He is rated 104 after finishing second in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot and then a close second to Dick Whittington in the Group 3 Anglesey Stakes at the Curragh. 1.25 on BETDAQ probably looks quite good value in the context of the race but too short for me to entertain.
Napping a horse that was pulled up on its last start is not my usual modus operandi but I’ll make an exception with the Willie Mullins trained Alileo in the 2.50 at Tramore.
The ex-French trained runner was third on his Irish debut at Ballinrobe but subsequently pulled up at Roscommon.
He has, however, run better on the flat since then and this race looks very modest.
