MIXED CARD AT CLONMEL: SHAMROCK heads to Clonmel for their mixed card which gets underway at 4.40 this afternoon.
The maiden at 4.40 has attracted only four runners but anyone of three could start favourite – it’s that open.
Long term maidens Fanzine and Taaluf do battle alongside Nidhaam.
Fanzine has his first start in Ireland since moving from Hughie Morrison’s UK yard and two seconds from seven starts is her current CV. She went closest at Newbury when a neck second to Kastini in a handicap over 10 furlongs and could well land this after a break of 93 days and the early market signals on BETDAQ have been positive.
Taaluf also has the same career record of two seconds from seven starts and ran her best start when second to Aidan O’Brien’s Shell House in a fillies handicap at Down Royal in July.
Nidhaam from Dermot Weld’s stable is harder to quantify, although it did look quite a smart maiden in which she finished fourth to Newton’s Night at Naas and of the trio is the one who can be expected to make the most improvement.
The closing maiden hurdle looks a match between Crown Theatre and Island Villa and preference is for the former who finished third to Tandem at Navan.
