IN a new Betdaqtips column, Emmet Ryan will be providing weekly Football tips and begins this week with a look at the crucial Euro 2016 Qualifiers on Friday and Saturday which feature all of the five home Nations.
It’s a clash for Celtic warriors tonight as Scotland host Republic Ireland in a crucial Euro 2016 qualifier. The pairing sees two evenly matched sides square off in a game that has drawn more attention for off-field concerns than what’s going to happen in Celtic Park.
Bettors however know what they are getting here. It’s two teams with players from clubs who provide traditionally volatile markets in EPL betting. That should leave plenty of room for value on multiple levels in this one.
The straight up winner is a little on the tight side for my like with Scotland (2.42) and Republic of Ireland (3.45) but there should be a lot of room for movement in-play. This game promises goals with neither defence made of steel, I like both teams to score (2.1) and this should open up some room in running as well for either side’s outright to become more favourable.
The Half-Time/Full-Time is my big bet here, the Irish may be underdogs travelling to Scotland but you’ve just got to like Martin O’Neill’s chances in Celtic Park. Draw/Republic of Ireland at 7.6 is screaming for more attention and it’s a market I’d go after early because it will almost certainly come in as kick-off draws near.
Roy Hodgson’s England are in a no-win situation. If and when they qualify for Euro 2016, it will be expected. If they win with flair, they will be accused of not preparing for the bigger tests ahead. If they grind out wins, as is the norm, they are seen as lacking the killer instinct.
For bettors, they should just be glad that Hodgson doesn’t allow media criticism to influence his style one bit. Hodgson delivers consistency, that’s what you want to see and work off. For Saturday I like England/England in the Half-time/Full-time (2) .
I’m a little tempted by the handicap here but in truth it looks about spot on and it reads like a coin-flip as to whether or not England cover. Hodgson’s side play conservatively but so much that winning big is unthinkable. The range reflects the way England play pretty well so that market’s best avoided pre-match and instead look for someone offering friendlier odds in-play.
Finally looking across the board tonight and tomorrow, here’s a multiple worth considering. Wins for Romania, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Czech Republic, England, Ireland, and a draw between Italy and Croatia. It’s an eight-leg bet but pays out at 65.19. Happy hunting.
