NO DOUBTING THOMAS ON ST PATRICK’S DAY: SHAMROCK heads to Wexford on St Patrick’s Day for a nap paying around 3.5 on BETDAQ.
Hopefully I can land a winning nap on St Patrick’s Day.
Wexford should get a good crowd today and for me the best bet on the card is Heck Thomas in the 3.50.
He is currently second favourite on BETDAQ behind I Shot The Sheriff but I think he might just be the safer option.
Heck Thomas has only finished out of the first two once in five starts and gained a first win over hurdles at Leopardstown last time out when staying on well over today’s 2m 4f trip to beat Mount Beckham with favourite Fort Smith back in third.
I Shot The Sheriff has the services of Ruby Walsh onboard and he ran well after a lengthy absence to take second in a handicap at Navan over a slightly longer trip. He’s been campaigned at a high level (failed to finish in both the Neptune and Albert Bartlett at successive Festivals) and has clearly had set-backs in training. Not one I’d want to take too short a price about.
