SHAMROCK AT THE CURRAGH: SHAMROCK previews today’s Group 3 at the Curragh – the Big Bad Bob Gladness Stakes over seven furlongs at 3.50.
Three English raiders add to this interesting puzzle and it’s the David Nicholls trained Sovereign Debt that is currently trading as favourite on BETDAQ in an open betting heat.
He was a desperately unlucky runner-up when last seen in the Ladbrokes All-Weather Mile Championships Conditions Stakes at Lingfield when denied a clear run inside the final furlong and only going down by a neck to Grey Mirage.
He looks a good bet to go one better here – particularly as he already has proven Group form in the book. His CV includes a runner-up spot in the 2013 Group 1 Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.
If fully wound up, the Aidan O’Brien trained Due Diligence looks a major threat. He finished his three-year-old campaign with an excellent second to Slade Power in the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.
