LEOPARDSTOWN GROUP ACTION: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the two Group races on this evening’s card at Leopardstown – won last year by Gleneagles and Jack Naylor.

Two evening cards in Ireland tonight at Leopardstown and Limerick.
There are two Group races on the Leopardstown card:
6:50 Jockey Club Of Turkey Silver Flash Stakes (Fillies’ Group 3) (2yo, Class 1, 7f, 9 runners)
Won by Jack Naylor last year who has gone on to finish second in this season’s Irish Oaks. This looks a really good renewal on paper with the four unbeaten fillies the ones to focus on. Aidan O’Brien has had plenty of success in this race in the past and he runs two – Alice Springs who looked useful when making a winning debut at the Curragh and the debutant Way To My Heart. Alice Springs won well at the Curragh (Miss Gossip was third) but may struggle to beat Dermot Weld’s Tanaza who was equally as impressive when winning here at Leopardstown last month. She beat Minding that day who has since followed up with an effortless win, also at Leopardstown.
7:25 Japanese Racing Association Tyros Stakes (Group 3) (2yo, Class 1, 7f, 7 runners)
Gleneagles beat two rivals in this last year and has gone on to win five of his next six races including, of course, the Guineas double and the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. It looks a little more competitive this year with four unbeaten runners amongst the seven strong field. Preference has to go to Sanus Per Aquam who has won both his starts and was particularly impressive over course and distance last time out when beating the Aidan O’Brien trained Port Douglas by four and three quarter lengths. Kevin Ryan’s raider Taking Libertys is also unbeaten in two starts but only won narrowly at Pontefract – although will be suited by this longer trip.
