SHAMROCK ON A NAPS ROLL: SHAMROCK landed his THIRD WINNING NAP from the last FOUR when TANAZA won the Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown last night at 7/4.
Tanaza landed the nap in style last night.
Trainer Dermot Weld was full of praise after the race suggesting she could well be a 1000 Guineas filly for next season: “It was a very good performance by her. She’s a filly we have had always said would appreciate a little more ease than there was here as a lot of Dubawi’s like a little ease. She’s just class but she has a lot of pace and is bred to carry it over a distance. She stays well and she’s bred to stay well, but she has gears and has always shown that.”
Unfortunately the next best Sanus Per Aquam was backed off the boards but edged out by Deauville in the Tyros Stakes.
It now means 3 from the last 4 naps have won:
Sunday: HOME OF THE BRAVE (NAP) WON 7/2
Monday: LEAN AND KEEN (NAP) WON 2/1
Tuesday: LOSER
Wednesday: NON RUNNER
Thursday: TANAZA WON 7/4
They race at Down Royal and Wexford this evening.
In a bid to continue the run of naps I am relying on the Tom Mullins trained Peace Mission in the seven furlong fillies maiden at Down Royal at 6.45pm.
She belied odds of 66/1 to finish second on debut at Gowran Park and then was only fifth at Leopardstown on rain softened ground last week. This looks her easiest race to date and on the faster ground should prove hard to beat.
