DAQMAN TAKES ON OâMEARA: Today he dares take on the current training maestro David OâMeara, who slammed the French with a stunning success at Deauville yesterday.

MAGNIFIQUE COULD MUG PRIMO OâMEARA
The amazing OâMeara! He doesnât just balloon the ability of horses he takes over from other yards, he inflates some of them sky high.
Move In Time (Bryan Smart > David OâMeara) soared to the heights of the Prix de lâAbbaye de Longchamp, Europeâs championship sprint.
Now Amazing Maria (Ed Dunlop > David OâMeara) has shot up a good 20lb from class-2 handicapper to yesterdayâs second Group-1 win for a hat-trick in the top two grades of the Pattern.
And these are just the big balloons. Along the way, horses with very little lift-off, have been fuelled with the OâMeara flair (or should that be âflareâ to come within the terminology of my metaphor) and flown to new heights, or at least come to roost a level or two higher.
Far be it from me to second guess the real attitude of those trainers who have seen their former charges rocket under OâMeara, merely must I reiterate their philosophical tones: âSome horses enjoy a change of scenery.â
Some do indeed. Amazing Grace has taken North Yorkshireâs OâMeara past the 200-winner mark since the start of last season, his rise and rise matching only the burgeoning years of Middlehamâs Mark Johnston or the great Malton houses of Charles and Bill Elsey or Leyburnâs Sam Armstrong in those good old bad old days.
3.15 Ripon Primogeniture (John Oxx > David OâMeara) has failed to score in six starts since moving to OâMeara from Ireland.
But heâs been beaten little more than a length in total in three races since towards the end of June, the âmoralâ on all three occasions, giving weight to the winner, including a neck down on the last day over this Ripon CD.
Thatâs crept him up 8lb and heâll need that magic OâMeara formula for improvement.
Corton Lad goes well at this level, but the one Primogeniture has to beat is Cadeau Magnifique, a come-from-behind horse who was little more than a length off the OâMeara gelding at York in July despite a tardy start and is 3lb better off.
I donât mean come from that far behind, Cadeau! As his name suggests, he is a grandson of the powerhouse sprinter Cadeaux Genereux.
MISSISSIPPI BIG VALUE 8.6 IN MEMORIAL
3.45 Ripon (Armstrong Memorial) OâMeara also needed time with Eccleston (Richard Fahey > David OâMeara) before he won a class-3 at Haydock and attempted his restoration to class-2 in his last two races.
Todayâs combination looks set to work more magic – a drop back to class 3 on suitable ground with the visor applied first time and Ecclestonâs first winning rider, Tony Hamilton, back on board â if it wasnât for Flyman, a second quisling in one race.
Flyman (Richard Fahey > David OâMeara), who reached a 98 rating under his previous yard, runs 11lb lower here and 3lb down on his last success; that, too, over 6f on the soft.
OâMeara also tried a visor on Flyman but it wasnât until he returned to his winning track, Doncaster, that he ran his best race, a length off the winner on the last day.
Can anything wriggle out from under this two-pronged OâMeara attack? Iâm sure Richard Fahey, the pairâs ex-trainer, would love to win it with Right Touch, but heâll be aware that a 6lb penalty for scoring at Pontefract takes the five-year-old higher than previous winning marks.
Or Bryan Smart, Move In Timeâs old trainer, with Nameitwhatyoulike, another back to winning form at Pontefract on the last day but another now racing off his highest ever mark.
All we needed was an entry from Ed Dunlop, and this Armstrong Memorial could have been renamed the Revenge Stakes.
Paul Midgley is bang in form with nine out of his last 13 starters in the first four, and Mississippi, a big value BETDAQ 8.6, has Graham Lee restored to the saddle.
The combo won over the Ripon CD in June on good-to-soft, and earlier ran Nameitwhatyoulike to half a length there, giving 2lb, so 7lb better off today.
4.15 Ripon David OâMeara goes for a hat-trick in this race and, yet again, makes it hard for punters â and his fellow trainers â with two runners.
Miss Mulberry was a class-3 winner over the Ripon CD a year or so ago but has struggled this season at four different levels (from Listed down to todayâs class 4).
Stablemate Snow Cloud is still a few pounds higher than when she won on firm ground in the Spring.
Imtiyaaz has twice gone close over 6f, but had won her maiden over slightly shorter, and this drop back to 5f should suit the keen-going Roger Varian filly. The trainer has saddled five winners and seven seconds in the last six days.
START THE KAAR FOR THE HAYLEY DRIVE
6.15 Carlisle Itâs lady-jockeysâ night at Carlisle and the mix of professional women riders and lady amateurs suggests an edge for punters.
Betdaqâs own Hayley Turner should go well on Iftikaar in this one, granted a fair start. Conditions are right and heâs on a couple of pounds lower mark than his last win, and getting lumps of weight from the other young horses.
6.00 and 7.30 Windsor Al Shaqabâs trainers did the business for the sponsors at Goodwood, with Frankie Dettori in charge of the steering.
One of their brightest two-year-old fillies, Cheveley-Park-entered Al Khateya (6.00), debuts tonight, while the same sireâs Aldaya tries to follow up her Salisbury success.
I took 6.2 in the BETDAQ orange Al Khateya, with a saver on the 2.44 shot Aldaya, and a double just in case.
