BIG RACE ACTION FROM CORK: Two bets from SHAMROCK on Tuesday in the two big races on the Cork card – a Group 3 and a Listed event.
Just one of those days yesterday when the nap Al Qahwa was turned over in the closing stages by the 40/1 chance Redstaroverchina at Naas.
Elsewhere on the Naas card there was an impressive win from Herald The Dawn who has very much entered the 2016 Classic picture. The Jim Bolger trained runner is a full-brother to former stable star Dawn Approach. He quickened up smartly to beat London who was well-backed on BETDAQ going into the race and Bolger is expected to step him up in distance for his next start.
There are two Irish cards this evening at Cork and Roscommon.
Feature race on the Cork card is the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Give Thanks Stakes – a Group 3 over 1m 4f at 8pm.
Aidan O’Brien and Dermot Weld have won the last three runnings of this race and have five of the eight runners tonight.
It might be Jim Bolger’s day again though with Altesse. She hasn’t finished out of the frame in six career starts and five of those races have come at Listed level. She is the only four-year-old in the race and can give the youngsters something to think about.
I’ve been looking forward to seeing the reappearance of Eshera who runs in the Platinum Stakes (Listed) at 7pm.
Dermot Weld’s filly looked really good when winning a Curragh maiden by over seven lengths (runner-up won since) with just hands and heels riding and can handle this step up in class.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Eshera (7.00 Cork)
NEXT BEST: Altesse (8.00 Cork)
