SHAMROCK BIDS FOR NAPS HAT-TRICK: After landing an 8/1 WINNING NAP on Thursday SHAMROCK followed up with a very confident 4/5 winning nap on Friday at Killarney.
Gelenschik landed the nap with ease yesterday at Killarney.
This followed up Thursday’s 8/1 winning nap and I was fairly confident of success yesterday.
I won’t be napping an 8/1 winner today but she’s currently around evens on BETDAQ which is exceptional value for a horse I consider should be around a 4/9 chance for this race. Surely a reproduction of her Curragh effort last time out should be good enough?
The final day of York today and the big question is whether the forecast downpours will arrive before or during racing or indeed miss the Knavesmire altogether.
If it does arrive before the Ebor at 3.45 then the race could develop into even more of a slog than normal.
There’s a big Irish challenge including Clondaw Warrior who sneaked into the race as a reserve. The Willie Mullins trained runner is certainly versatile distance wise. He followed up his win in the 2m 4f Ascot Stakes at Royal Ascot with a success over 1m 4f at the Galway Festival. He gets pole position in stall one and should run a huge race under Frankie Dettori and is preferred to the stables other runner Wicklow Brave.
Fields Of Athenry is a big danger from the Aidan O’Brien yard. He comes here on the back of wins in Listed and Group 3 company at Leopardstown and is very much an improver but has a tough task on his hands from box 22.
Tony Martin’s Quick Jack should again run a big race. He couldn’t be in better form on the flat and jumps – winning the Galway Hurdle last time out and runner-up in the Chester Cup when last seen on the flat.
A good days racing at the Curragh and for the nap I’m going with Bear Cheek in the Group 3 Curragh Stakes at 4.45. She was sent off odds-on for her debut at Naas and won showing plenty of style and promise.
