CURRAGH ON TUESDAY: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the Curragh on Tuesday. He was in good form at the track on Sunday with THREE WINNERS from FOUR TIPS.
The Curragh stage an eight race card today.
The track tweeted this morning: “The ground at The Curragh remains Good (good to firm in places on round course). Heavy fog at present but dry bright day forecast.”
The maidens on today’s card look very trappy. Of those that have run in the opening fillies maiden there’s not much form of note on offer but that doesn’t allow for considerable improvement from opening efforts. The Aidan O’Brien trained Eavesdrop is a case in point. She is quite prominent in the betting but beat only three horses home on debut when 11th at Naas.
The Dermot Weld trained Raymonda looks the more obvious debutant. She is a half-sister to the talented Brooch and Caponata who both hailed from the same stable.
Dermot Weld also has a strong chance in the Go Racing In Kildare Rated Race at 4.35 with the twice raced Ashraf. He won well over the one mile trip here but that was back in March and on much softer ground than today. The Aidan O’Brien stable is red hot at the moment and I’ll side with Los Barbados who romped home by 11 lengths at Wexford last time out when wearing blinkers for the first time. The third from that race, Tetraites, has won his two subsequent starts over the flat and jumps to give the form a boost. This is a much tougher task for Los Barbados but he could easily be up to it and odds of between 4.7 and 5.5 on BETDAQ look attractive. Even more smarter would be to ask for a bigger price than 4.7 and if your bet gets matched you’ll pay a flat rate 2% COMMISSION.
