TWO GRADE 3 RACES AT PUNCHESTOWN: Top chaser Don Cossack is very much the star attraction on Thursday’s Punchestown card in the Irish Daily Star Chase at 4.30 – a race he won last year.
It looks like being a Gigginstown/Gordon Elliott monopoly in the Irish Daily Star Chase at Punchestown this afternoon with them having three of the five runners including the red hot favourite (1.25 on BETDAQ at the time of writing) Don Cossack.
Elliott has won the last four runnings of this including with Don Cossack himself who was sent off at 11/10 when winning easily last season. Since then, he went on to win five of his six races with his only defeat being when third to Uxizandre in the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. He rounded off last season with an emphatic success in the Punchestown Gold Cup and he is impossible to oppose today in a race where he is 22lb clear of his nearest rival on official ratings. He is already trading between 7.8 and 11 for the Cheltenham Gold Cup on the BETDAQ ante-post market and can strengthen those claims this afternoon.
The Gigginstown/Elliott combo should also land the other Grade 3 on the card with The Game Changer in the Buck House Novice Chase at 3.55. He is progressing really well over fences and is bidding for a Grade 3 hat-trick. He comfortably accounted for another of today’s rivals Sizing Platinum at Roscommon and I see no reason for that form not to be upheld on just 2lb worse terms.
You can get between 2.06 and 2.28 on BETDAQ which I feel looks more than fair. Get greedy and ask for bigger odds than 2.06. If you get matched you’re on to a DOUBLE WIN before the race starts. You’ve got better odds and you’ll pay just 2% COMMISSION on any winnings.
