EIGHT BANKERS WIN IN A ROW: Daqman landed eight bankers consecutively when Don Cossack (WON 1-4) romped home yesterday for winning nap number 15 out of the last 21:

WON 1-2 Shalaa (gold banker)
WON 10-11 Donna Graciosa (banker)
WON 5-6 Dark Emerald (banker)
WON 10-11 Kayla (banker)
WON 8-11 Vazirabad (banker)
WON 5-6 Quiet Reflection (banker)
WON 5-6 Best In The World (banker)
WON 1-4 Don Cossack (gold banker)

8.0 AND 13.0 OFFERS ARE VALUE: Daqman takes the plunge in tomorrow’s Champion Stakes on an 8.0 BETDAQ value offer against the badly-drawn Jack Hobbs. He also rates a 13.0 (or 14.0? see story) chance at Haydock this afternoon.

TAKE THE 8.0 VADAMOS FOR CHAMPION UPSET

The draw is a worry all round. Not just in the Champion Stakes tomorrow but in all Ascot championship races between 7f and 1m 4f, particularly on an easy surface.

1.55 Ascot, tomorrow In the Champion Fillies and Mares (1m 4f), only a front-running ride on Dancing Rain has beaten the high-stalls hoodoo.

Since then, the last three results by stall have been 2-3-8, 2-7-4 and 4-2-6. So, three consecutive winners drawn four or under, with five out of six in the one-two coming from stalls two to five.

Arabian Queen (stall 2) was 17.5 on BETDAQ this morning, but as low as 12-1 in a place in the betting village; Candarliya (in 3) was offered 6.2; Tapestry (in 4) 9.0, though 11-2, 6-1 and 7-1 with bookmakers; Speedy Boarding (stall 5) was 19.5.

3.05 Ascot, tomorrow No winner has been drawn higher than stall five in the four years since the Champion Stakes moved to Ascot.

In gate order, 1 to 5, Racing History was best priced with BETDAQ (16.0 offers this morning); Lightning Spear, as low as 25-1 in a place, fixed odds, was 60.0 in the orange; Sumbal 31.0; The Corsican, though 13.0 on the exchange, was as low as 8-1 in a place with bookmakers; Vadamos at 8.0 compared with 9-2 to 6-1 maximum in the village.

VERDICT: Headlined confidence by Andre Fabre suggests that Vadamos will start around 4-1, perhaps wedged between an easier-to-back Jack Hobbs (badly drawn in 12) and the inconsistent Found, so the 8.0 should be taken today.

HELP ME OUT WITH STETCHWORTH TRADE HORSE

3.45 Haydock This card is a mix of two-year-old unknowns and tired sprinters until we get to this mile handicap. Then we’re faced with a short-priced favourite, Mitchum Swagger.

But he looks hard to oppose, drawn 15 and easy winner of a handicap here on a soft surface on only his second racecourse appearance.

The danger may be Stetchworth, who won from the front at this time last year. He’s had a long holiday but scored after a similar break last season.

I took 13.0 but I also tried to push the boat out a bit, asking for 14.0. Apart from looking for a commission cut, I wanted as big a price as possible a front-runner, looking for a trade in running.

5.30 Haydock The problem with the Mitchum Swaggers of this world is that latching on to a sequence of two or more wins could mean you are climbing on to the bandwagon when the action is over!

Usually not so in the case of Sir Mark Prescott horses: they are not seeking to defy penalties but to step up the grades as the maestro improves them.

Class-5 scorer Night Generation even took a step backwards to take advantage of a lenient AW mark in class 6.

The market says that, in today’s class-4, he has only Magic Circle to beat. I say ‘only’ but Magic Circle has already made the leap into this grade, though at a shorter trip.

Can she step up to this 2m? Her breeding says not, so this looks like a fishing trip, in which case we should rely on the proven stayer, Night Generation, and save on Magic Circle just in case she pulls it out of the hat.

BARTON ANOTHER FOR BATH SPECIAL AGENT

4.45 Wincanton While the ground remains firm on the Charlton Musgrove palio (Wincanton to you), Barton Antix should fend off the attackers for a second – ‘morally’ third – success since early September.

He won going away at Towcester but had a bit too much to do at Worcester, though still got within a neck of the winner giving 3lb.

Barton Antix is one in what’s becoming a long line of success for Limpley Stoke, Bath, trainer Neil Mulholland with your average chaser. Keep this man, and any like him, on your side.
