DUNDALK ALL-WEATHER NAP: Friday night means one thing. Dundalk !! And SHAMROCK’s NAP runs in the 8.05pm.
It feels odd today. Nothing new to report about Annie Power !!! (EDITOR: But you’ve STILL managed to mention her, yet again).
We’ll put Cheltenham on hold for a while and concentrate with the job in hand and racing at Dundalk tonight.
A seven race card with, unusually for the track, two races that have attracted just four runners. Mark Johnston sends over Turbine for a crack at the 7.35 but will have a big battle against Roman Impero who was quite impressive when winning over course and distance last month.
I prefer the maiden at 8.05pm over a mile and the strong chances of Bridle Path in what might prove a very modest contest. Jim Bolger has fared pretty well here this year with his last four runners placed 3312.
Bridle Path had three starts last season, including a course and distance second in October. She was then stepped up to a mile and a half and didn’t run too badly in fifth but the suggestion was that it proved too far. She was noted as travelling particularly well in the race though. Still lightly raced, she is still capable of improvement and can see off main danger Pharadelle who was tardy away when 6th of 12 over course and distance three weeks ago.
Correct thinking – wrong implementation. I had doubts about the morning favourites in the bumper at Clonmel yesterday but went win and place on an alternative rather than straightforward lays. In the end, another horse popped up to win – beating odds-on Merry Night easily. I’ll just have to file it in the ‘trying to make things too complicated and ignoring the obvious tray.’ MEMO: If I don’t fancy two horses then press that little BETDAQ button called LAY 🙁
