SHAMROCK NEWS FILE: SHAMROCK wraps up the latest news stories as we reach just 21 days until the Cheltenham Festival.
NO RACING UNTIL THURSDAY: The next scheduled meeting in Ireland is Thurles on Thursday when the At The Races Michael Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle (Grade 2) is the feature.
TODAY:
Kempton by-pass for Willie Mullins
Flemenstar follow-up
Fran Berry heads to UK
- WILLIE SAYS NO TO KEMPTON: Willie Mullins has no entries for the big Kempton card at the weekend although the Grade 2 Pendil Novices’ Chase has re-opened for entries.
- FLEM LOSES STAR RATING: Trainer Tony Curran is puzzled by Flemenstar’s disappointing display in Saturday’s Ascot Chase. The trainer said: “There is no obvious reason yet but we are getting him checked out. He seems 100% at home. All I can think of at the minute is that he didn’t travel (to England) well. We will give him a few weeks off now and see how he is. We will make a plan for him then.”
- FRAN ON THE MOVE: Fran Berry (pictured) is the new stable jockey to Classic-winning trainer Ralph Beckett. The trainer said on www.rbeckett.com: “I am delighted to announce that we have come to an arrangement with Fran Berry to ride as first jockey at Kimpton Down. He and his family will relocate to this area early next month, and he will be riding out here on a daily basis. Jockey’s agent Tony Hind will be booking his rides.”
